Our client, an international logistics organization, is recruiting for an Operations Manager to join their business in Austria.Position Title:Operations ManagerPosition Type:PermanentStart Date:ASAPLocation:Viena, AustriaContact:Bianca | +49 (0) 89 23 88 98 673Job Description:We are launching our last-mile delivery network in Austria and are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to build and lead our on-ground operations, network expansion, and partner ecosystem. This individual will play a critical role in building the last-mile delivery network with a strong focus on operational, local partner acquisition, and resource alignment. The ideal candidate must have in-depth knowledge of the local last-mile ecosystem and a wide network of DSPs (Delivery Service Providers), couriers, and relevant stakeholders.Key Responsibilities:Conduct in-depth analysis of Austria’s last-mile delivery market and operational landscapeLead end-to-end last-mile operations, including couriers, lockers, and 3PL partnersBuild and continuously optimize the national address database, route planning models, and delivery standardsMonitor and manage daily operational KPIs (SLA, success rate, cost-per-parcel, network efficiency)Lead operational launch activities, pilot programs, SOP development, and continuous improvement initiativesOversee vendor/3PL performance and ensure consistent service quality and complianceCollaborate closely with IT, Product, and HQ teams to enhance system performance and operational digitalizationEnsure compliance with Austrian postal regulations, data protection requirements, and labor standardsEvaluate, recommend, and support setup of key operational infrastructure (CDC, hubs, drop-off points, lockers, etc.)Work closely with regional Eastern Europe leadership teams to align with the overall market expansion roadmapSupport legal, commercial, and regulatory processes where operational input is requiredProvide hands-on operational guidance and on-site support throughout the ramp-up and scale-up phasesQualifications & Experience:10 years of management experience in logistics and 5 years of last-mile delivery experience in AustriaProven track record of setting up or scaling last-mile operations in a local or regional roleDeep understanding of Austria courier, e-commerce, and logistics service provider landscapeStrong network of DSPs, independent delivery agents, or fleet operatorsFamiliarity with operational metrics, cost structures, and regulatory considerationsExcellent communication skills in English and GermanEntrepreneurial mindset and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment
