Location: Remote (U. S. only; Pittsburgh or East Coast preferred)Compensation: Equity only (co-founder)Commitment: Part-time to start, with intent to grow full-timeAbout the RolePalindrome is resuming development of its skate tech platform and looking to bring on a technical co-founder with experience in embedded systems, physics engines, and machine learning. You’ll function as CTO, owning the entire technical stack — from sensor integration to simulation, machine learning, and interface development. An early machine learning prototype (ollie height prediction) has already been built.
The next phase is focused on designing and delivering a complete system that gives skateboarders meaningful, data-driven insights into trick performance. This venture will likely spin off into its own standalone company, distinct from Palindrome Skateboards, which is already revenue-generating in PA, NC, VA, and FL. ResponsibilitiesArchitect, prototype, and implement a complete real-world motion capture and feedback system. Integrate embedded sensors (board and body) for real-time movement and trick data. Build or integrate a physics engine to simulate and visualize trick execution. Develop systems that allow users to interact with and explore performance data in meaningful ways.
Design and train machine learning models to interpret motion and generate personalized insights. Help define a lightweight mobile UI for playback, experimentation, and feedback. Own the full technical roadmap, tooling decisions, and implementation strategy. Skills and CapabilitiesTechnical LeadershipExperience acting as or aspiring to be a CTO or founding engineer. Comfortable working with high autonomy in early-stage environments. Embedded Systems and HardwareIMU integration (accelerometers, gyroscopes, etc. ). BLE communication and microcontroller prototyping (ESP32, Arduino). Physics and SimulationExperience with physics engines (Unity 3D, Unreal, Bullet, or equivalent). Background in motion modeling, kinematics, or rigidbody simulation.
Machine LearningExperience with time-series data, motion classification, or pattern recognition. Proficient in PyTorch or TensorFlow. Able to deploy models to mobile or edge environmentsSignal ProcessingSensor fusion, noise filtering (Kalman/complementary filters)Multi-sensor data alignment (e. g. body and board streams)Software / UIMobile or web app development (React Native, Flutter, Unity UI, or WebGL)Real-time data visualization, interaction, or animationNote: You don’t need to have every skill listed above. What matters most is passion for the space, a strong desire to learn quickly, and the ability to have fun building something new from the ground up. Other NotesU. S.
applicants only (Pittsburgh or East Coast preferred) — we are not able to sponsor visas at this time. Portfolio or demonstrable prior work is required. Equity-based only — intended to scale into a full-time CTO role. Skateboarding or other action sports experience not required, but a plus.
