Job Description

We're seeking a paralegal or junior Counsel for our TREC Legal Department in Zug, Switzerland.Thomson Reuters Enterprise Centre (TREC) owns and manages a significant portfolio of modern, multi-lingual, highly scalable technology platforms, proprietary content sets, brand assets, and associated intellectual property that enable rapid, cost-effective development and deployment of information products to a global user base.The TREC Legal department provides comprehensive legal support across all aspects of TREC operations, including corporate governance, M&A transactions, inter-company and third-party contracts, employment matters, intellectual property protection, privacy, and regulatory compliance.About The RoleThis position sits within the General Counsel Office and reports directly to the General Counsel, TREC. As a Paralegal or Junior Counsel, you will play a critical role supporting legal operations for a content-enabled technology company with entities around the world.Key ResponsibilitiesLegal Support & AdvisoryConduct legal research and provide analysis on matters affecting TREC's global operationsDraft, review, and negotiate a variety of inter-company, transfer pricing and third party agreements and legal documentsAssist with M&A due diligence, document gathering, and transaction supportSupport corporate governance matters, including preparing board minutes and board materials, updating board and committee charters, and coordinating meetingsContract & Document ManagementManage the end-to-end document execution process, ensuring contracts are executed in a timely and efficient manner with appropriate signatures, notarization, and legalizationCoordinate with external service providers (notaries, apostille services, etc.)Maintain accurate records of authorized signatories and key contact personnel across global entitiesEnsure proper filing and organization of executed documents in contract management systems, shared drives, and physical bindersCorporate Governance & CoordinationOrganize and coordinate internal meetings and approval processes, including board meetings and investment/divestiture committee approvalsManage calendars, schedule meetings, and prepare agendas for governance activitiesSupport compliance initiatives and regulatory filings across multiple jurisdictionsProcess Improvement & Project ManagementIdentify opportunities to streamline and improve legal operations, workflows, and systemsDevelop and implement efficient processes and procedures to enhance department effectivenessParticipate in and drive broader legal department projects and initiativesAdapt quickly to shifting priorities and manage multiple workstreams simultaneouslyAbout YouRequired QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Law or equivalent legal qualification; admission to practice (for Junior Counsel candidates) or paralegal certification/equivalent legal trainingExperience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department, with exposure to commercial contracts, corporate governance, or transactional mattersLanguage Skills: Fluency in written and spoken English is essential, with the ability to draft legal documents and conduct legal work in EnglishTechnical Proficiency: Ability to quickly learn and master internal IT systems, including contract lifecycle management tools, electronic signature platforms, document management systems, and project management softwareKey CompetenciesSelf-Starter Mentality: Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive projects to completion with minimal supervisionWorkload Management: Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines during periods of peak activityProcess-Oriented Thinking: Track record of developing, implementing, and improving operational processes and systemsAgility & Adaptability: Comfortable shifting gears quickly in response to changing business needs and prioritiesAttention to Detail: Meticulous approach to document review, contract management, and legal workResults-Driven: Focus on delivering high-quality work product and measurable outcomesPreferred QualificationsFluency in German languageExperience working in a large, matrix organization and/or international business environmentFamiliarity with Swiss corporate law and cross-border legal mattersBackground in technology, media, or content-driven industriesExperience with intellectual property, privacy/data protection, or regulatory complianceWhat’s in it For You?Hybrid Work Model: We’ve adopted a flexible hybrid working environment (2-3 days a week in the office depending on the role) for our office-based roles while delivering a seamless experience that is digitally and physically connected.Flexibility & Work-Life Balance: Flex My Way is a set of supportive workplace policies designed to help manage personal and professional responsibilities, whether caring for family, giving back to the community, or finding time to refresh and reset.
