Job Description

The Paralegal plays a critical role in supporting the legal department by managing a variety of legal and administrative tasks related to real estate, condominium developments, and corporate compliance. This role involves reviewing contracts and legal documents, coordinating possession and conveyance processes, and ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions. The Paralegal collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including Sales, Construction, Warranty, and Treasury to facilitate smooth operations and mitigate legal risks. Additionally, the Paralegal contributes to process improvements through automation initiatives and maintains organized and accurate legal documentation. This position requires strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and a thorough understanding of real estate and condominium law in Alberta.Key ResponsibilitiesLegal Document Management & ComplianceReview procurement, acquisition, and lease agreements to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable laws and internal standards.Prepare and deliver legal disclosure documents in accordance with provincial regulations, including requirements for condominium developments.Ensure compliance with real estate legislation and the Condominium Property Act across multiple jurisdictions.Maintain and update internal legal policies to reflect current legislation and support corporate objectives.Real Estate Transaction & Possession SupportCoordinate legal aspects of real estate transactions, including key release, closing documentation, and conveyancing tasks.Manage timelines and documentation related to possessions, working closely with Sales, Construction, and Warranty teams.Support phased condominium developments by organizing consents, registrations, and required filings.Assist with municipal tax administration and legal review of property-related matters.Cross-Functional Coordination & CollaborationWork with internal teams such as Treasury, Procurement, and Multifamily Project Managers to align legal activities with operational processes.Coordinate with Accounts Payable and external counsel on legal invoice processing and budget tracking.Participate in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures across departments.Support cross-team efforts to ensure home possessions are legally sound and well-coordinated.Systems & Process ImprovementOversee legal document uploads, entry, and data integrity within internal systems.Lead automation and process improvement initiatives to streamline legal workflows and enhance team efficiency.Maintain organized, accessible document management systems to support compliance and operational transparency.Manage a high-volume inbox, ensuring prompt responses and effective prioritization of requests.Legal Education & EngagementAttend legal conferences, seminars, and training sessions to stay informed on industry trends and best practices.Conduct legal training sessions for internal teams to improve awareness and application of legal standards.Foster a collaborative and engaged team environment by participating in departmental meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions.EDUCATIONRequiredAssociate's degree in Paralegal StudiesAssociate's degree in LegalShareApply
