Job DetailsTemporary Full Time (CUPE 136T)Posting StatusOpen to current Town of Oakville employees and external applicantsDurationIndefinite contractClosing DateApplications for this position must be received at by no later than 11:59pm on October 29, 2025.Job Responsibilities Establish positive customer relationships and provide support to user groups after hours and during weekends. Patrol assigned areas on a regular basis, monitoring and documenting weather conditions and outdoor facility usage. Maintain safe & proper use of outdoor facilities by user groups, and members of the public. Respond to enquiries, and resolve or redirect (as appropriate), customer complaints from the public, user groups, staff etc. with regard to permit conditions and permissions. Prepare reports of winter patrol and parks property damage, illegal facility usage, and special incidents (as required); ensuring reports are complete and forwarded to the appropriate supervisory staff in a timely fashion. Be conversant with master schedules, and special event listings. Liaise effectively with on-call parks supervisor, Halton regional police and local emergency services, as needed. Performs litter pick up and facility checks in the parks and open space system maintained by the Town; reports any incomplete work or issues to the Lead-hand and/or Supervisor. Collects limbs and brush; rakes; perform debris and litter pick-up from roadsides, creeks, parks, parking lots, etc. Prepares ground by hand digging, raking and laying sod. Adheres to assigned schedules of waste pickups and small litter removal. Shovel snow and salt walkways as required. Maintain vehicles and equipment in a clean, tidy condition, making regular inspections and circle checks, reporting defects, etc. in a prescribed manner. Apply safety precautions and procedures in the performance of duties and the operation of motorized equipment ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ministry of Transportation Temporary Conditions for Road Work, standard operating procedures and policies of the Town of Oakville. Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum of High School graduation or acceptable equivalent in education and experience. Education and/or experience in either Law & Security or Recreation. Superior customer service skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision are imperative. Good organizational and report writing skills are essential. Proficiency in Word, Excel and a basic knowledge of Lotus Notes are requirements of this position. Must possess knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Highway Traffic Act and Book 7 Proficient time management skills and flexibility in adjusting between a variety of duties. Must hold and provide a copy of a valid and unrestricted Ontario Driver’s Licence Class DZ minimum (standard and automatic transmission) with a driving record that demonstrates responsible and safe driving behaviour. Note: Applicants with 6 or more points are ineligible for consideration. The successful applicant, who is a new hire, will be required to provide the Corporation with a current drivers abstract (no older than 30 days) and pass a Town administered road test as a condition of employment. Must be willing to work a 40-hour workweek in varying weather conditions and be available for shift work, including weekend and evening shifts as noted above. Parks Encampments: Outreach Response workshop would be considered an asset. Lift Truck Certification and Chain Saw Certification would be considered an asset.
