Job Title: Part-Time Faculty, Art HistoryClassification: Faculty (Institutional Support)Reports To: Dean, School of Architecture and DesignLocation: Kuwait City, KuwaitJob PurposeAmerican International University (AIU) is seeking a part-time faculty member in Art History for the School of Architecture and Design. This role is ideal for a dynamic educator who is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and engaging students in the exploration of art history within a supportive academic environment.The faculty member will teach undergraduate courses in art history, helping students develop creative inquiry, critical thinking, and visual analysis skills. Through active and engaging instruction, the instructor will guide students in examining historical and contemporary expressive practices, artifacts, and other forms of cultural production.Key Responsibilities• Teach assigned undergraduate courses in Art History, aligned with the candidate’s area of expertise (e.g., ancient, medieval, early modern, modern, or contemporary)• Develop engaging lesson plans and course materials that foster critical and creative thinking• Integrate relevant professional trends, examples, and technologies into classroom learning• Provide constructive feedback and academic support to students• Contribute to departmental initiatives such as student exhibitions or cultural events as time and schedule allowRequired Skills and Qualifications• Excellent communication and instructional skills in English (language of instruction is English)• Demonstrated ability to engage students in active learning and critical thinking• Knowledge of global art history, theory, and design culture• Ability to work effectively with students and colleagues from diverse backgroundsEducation and Experience• PhD in Art History preferred; Master’s degree in Art History or a closely related field required• Prior university-level teaching experience in art history required• Demonstrated excellence in teaching within the art history disciplinePosition Details• Type: Part-time faculty appointment• Teaching Load: To be determined based on departmental needs and candidate availability• Start Date: August 2025 or earlier if availableAbout American International UniversityAmerican International University (AIU) is a private institution in Kuwait, founded in 2019, offering undergraduate programs based on the American higher education model.
