Currently, the new FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) one of the world's largest research projects, is being built in international cooperation. GSI and FAIR offer the opportunity to work in this international environment with a team of employees committed to world-class science.For the department Linac (LIN) we are looking for aPhysicist or Engineer (all genders)Reference: 25.118-6680to participate in development of the superconducting linear accelerator HELIAC (HElmholtz LInear ACcelerator). Currently at GSI the first cryogenic module of HELIAC is in test operation, further two cryogenic modules are in manufacturing phase. Your tasks:Procurement and Supervision of manufacturing of components and cryostat for further cryogenic modulesCryogenic testing of RF cavities, including the development of automated control for the subatmospheric helium compressorParticipation in tests with first cryogenic moduleParticipation in beam times.Your qualifications and skills:University Degree in physics or engineering sciences (M.Sc./M.Eng.) or comparable qualificationAbility and interest to work with mechanical systems and accelerator installationsKnowledge in one or more of these fields: cryogenic, vacuum technology, programing, industrial PLC.Team-oriented and safe working methodsGood language skills in English and German.The following qualifications and skills are desirable:Experience in Python programmingExperience with analog and digital electronics.You may expect a multifaceted and interesting position within an internationally leading research institution.
