Policy Specialist

The RoleA State Government department is seeking a skilled Policy Specialist to provide advice, coordination, and guidance on privacy and health information sharing. In this role, you'll work closely with health services to review and update policies, participate in stakeholder workshops, and ensure compliance with legislative frameworks and privacy principles. You'll contribute to the development and implementation of policy documents, guidance materials, and reporting to ensure consistent and contemporary practice across the sector. This is a contract role until the end of December 2025 with a strong possibility of extension. Responsibilities:Provide cross-functional policy guidance and advisory support to health services on privacy compliance and data sharing.Participate in meetings, workshops, and reviews to progress implementation.Develop and update policies, guidelines, and frameworks ensuring compliance with privacy legislation.Manage and track privacy and policy workstreams, escalating issues where required.Support the statewide Privacy and Policy Advisory Group, including agenda preparation and documentation.About YouStrong knowledge of Victorian and Australian privacy laws and frameworks, particularly as they relate to health information.Minimum 5 years' experience in a privacy or policy-focused role, ideally within the health or government sector.Proven ability to interpret complex legislative and regulatory requirements into practical organisational outcomes.Demonstrated project coordination and stakeholder management skills.Excellent written communication and policy development capabilities.
