Do you want to contribute to improving human health?The Department of Global Public Health is a multidisciplinary department with the aim to advance knowledge about challenges and opportunities for public health in a local, national, and global setting. Many researchers at the department are scientific advisors to authorities and other decision makers at regional, national, and international levels. The department is responsible for three international master’s programs and the researchers are actively involved in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The department has 12 research groups, around 120 PhD students and about 140 employees.Within our research team, you will find a multi-disciplinary group of researchers working to address the Sustainable Development Goals, with a particular focus on ensuring children not only survive but also thrive as adolescents. We work globally, with collaborative partnerships with academics, clinicians and governments, to support both operational, observational and evaluation research. Working in our group you will find a supportive and passionate environment, where you will contribute to meaningful partnerships for improved evidence-based health policies.Your missionThe successful candidate will work on various projects related to adolescent health and wellbeing, in both Sweden and low- and middle-income settings, and be expected to build their own research ideas within this area (e.g. digital violence, mental health treatment, stigma and HIV). The candidate will also work on strategic coordination, collaboration and fundraising across the different streams of adolescent health research within the department.The candidate is expected to actively engage within the department and contribute, for example through doctoral supervision, attending and organising seminar sessions, joining committees or taking on administrative roles, and teaching. The candidate will be encouraged and supported to submit their own grant applications, and transition to independence.This is a full time position for 2 years with possibility of extension.Your profileTo be eligible for employment as a postdoctor, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.The candidate must have the following:A PhD in Global Health.Evidence of collaboration across multi-disciplinary and multi-country partnerships – including partners from outside of Sweden.Experience using participatory or co-design methodologies. Experience within mixed-methods or intervention research leadership, particularly in the context of youth, mental health, or violence prevention. The candidate must have excellent skills in both written and spoken English.The following criteria are meritorious:A strong publication track record.Work experience or prior collaborative work in low and middle-income contexts.Coordination of multi-partner projects.Demonstrated ability to translate research into implementation or practice.Ability to teach as undergraduate or graduate levels.Experience in mentoring early-career researchers or contributing to departmental capacity building is also viewed favourably.We are looking for a researcher who is self-motivated and able to work well within multidisciplinary teams and with partners from low- and middle-income countries.What do we offer?A creative and inspiring environment with wide-ranging expertise and interests.
