The research, with a focus on precision medicine and genetics, is at the forefront of diabetes research; the group is led by Associate Professor Emma Ahlqvist. We are also committed to building a safe and positive environment for all employees through mutual respect and tolerance.Description Of The ProjectThe postdoc will leverage existing high-throughput data from large scale cohorts and large family cohorts complemented with bulk and single cell RNAseq data from relevant tissues to investigate T2D pathogenesis and its early life programming. Primarily, there is scope for qualifications in research, but also for some higher education pedagogy training. Teaching may also be part of the job duties.The position will involve a mixture of methodological and collaborative research in diabetes genetics and genomics. The methodological research may include but is not limited to statistical models using genetic data from family-based studies as well as -omics data for integrative deconvolution and machine learning methods for prognosis and therapeutic biomarker development. The collaborative research may include but is not limited to software tool dissemination, biology discovery, and participation in studies with large research consortia. This position will require writing bioinformatics methodology manuscripts, developing/maintaining software packages, teaching, supervision and other academic activities.QualificationsRequirements for the position are:PhD or equivalent foreign degree within Bioinformatics, statistics, genetics, or equivalent.
