Practical/ Assistant Nurse (Mental Health)

JOB SUMMARYProvides age-appropriate patient care according to the Nursing Scope of Practice as defined by the regulatory body. The assistant Nurse (Practical Nurse) is not licensed for independent practice but remains responsible and accountable for his/her own actionsTo maintain a high standard of nursing care for patients, working within evidence based guidelines and unit specific competencies.Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, assess and implement nursing care for patients ensuring a patient centred approach to care.Under the direction of the Registered nurse, assist in the activities of daily living for patients in accordance with the patient care plan e.g. distribution of patient meals and assisting patients with hygiene needs.Demonstrates service excellence and acts as a patient advocate to support the patient’s dignity and rights at all times. Understands the basic indications for medications, recognizes side effects and reports to the Registered Nurse appropriately.Ensures the registered nurse is informed of observations and care provided for patients and documents appropriately.Reports any significant changes in the patient’s condition to a Registered Nurse immediately.Responds to all levels of emergencies according to the organizations policies and procedures.Demonstrates knowledge in and compliance with the completion of documentation in an appropriate timeframe according to BE policies and guidelines.Demonstrates ability to navigate Malaffi accurately and efficiently within scope of practice.Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in the management of effective and efficient patient centred care in a professional manner.Promotes and supports a collaborative practice model.Communicate effectively and clearly with patients, carers and all healthcare professionals. Contributes effectively to the support of new staff, nursing students and other staff.Demonstrates integration of the unique knowledge and technical skills required for the specialty as per the role specific clinical practice definition in Appendix 1 and the SEHA competency and training matrix.QUALIFICATION:Experience in Mental health centreDOH license as Practical Nurse
