Queensland State Archives has an exciting opportunity! If you’re interested in influencing which public records come to the Archives for current and future generations and in developing a new approach to the retention and disposal of records by Queensland Government agencies, we’d love to hear from you!You will work collaboratively as part of a team and engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders.We offer flexible work hours and location, with free car parking onsite.In this role, you will lead a small team and be responsible for providing expert guidance in complex archival appraisal matters.As The Principal Appraisal Archivist, You WillProvide expert subject matter guidance and advice to the State Archivist and QSA on the appraisal, retention and disposal of public records, including guidance and advice about regulatory requirements.Provide leadership and high-level advice to public authorities on complex, high-risk appraisal, retention and disposal issues.Lead, implement and contribute to key activities and projects with stakeholders about the appraisal, retention and disposal of public records under the Public Records Act 2023.Research, analyse and prepare written reports, discussion papers, briefing notes and other documents on complex topics including appraisal, retention and disposal of public records.Develop innovative approaches to help enhance the processes for preparing disposal authorisations and facilitating the disposal of public records by public authorities.Lead a high-performing team and prioritise work activities and resources to ensure quality programs of work are delivered.Build and maintain close relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including representing QSA in external meetings and delivering presentations.Model the behaviours expected of a leader at QSA including fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, promoting an environment of strong customer service, collaboration and teamwork.Undertake any other duties as directed by the Manager, Strategic Policy and the Director, PAGR.For further details about what the role entails and how you will be assessed, we encourage you to read the attached role description and talk to the contact officer.Applications remain current for 12 months and may be considered for identical or similar vacancies.Job Ad Reference: QLD/668682/25Closing Date: Thursday, 13th November 2025Occupational group Information Management/Library
