Job DescriptionWood has an opportunity for an experienced Principal Civil and Structural Design Engineer that has previous experience of working across Feasibility Studies and FEEDs, plus EPC and PMC projects. We aim to deliver safe and sustainable projects and services for our clients in different fields.ResponsibilitiesWhat makes you remarkable?Structural Engineering & CalculationsPerform structural analysis, load calculations, and stress checks for:Pipe rack reinforcementEquipment support frames (static equipment / columns / heat exchanger bundles)Temporary lifting supports, jacking frames, and skidding systemsConcrete foundation bearing capacity for cranes and heavy equipmentReview and approve structural design deliverables:Steel connection details (bolted/welded)Anchorage design and padeye calculationsTemporary works design (shoring, scaffolding tie-in, excavation retention)Validate structural safety margins based on allowable load and field conditions.Field Engineering TroubleshootingProvide immediate technical decisions when unexpected site conditions appear:Settlement, cracks, rebar exposure, low concrete strength test resultsMisalignment of anchor bolts or equipment foundation deviationsIssue Field Change Request (FCR) or Design Change Notice (DCN) with supporting calculations.Lead root-cause evaluation for structural defects and define repair method.DeliverablesApproved structural calculation sheetsTemporary works structural approvalTechnical assessments and inspection reportsRedline / As-built drawingsStructural acceptance for Mechanical Completion (MC)Technical CompetenciesFinite element/structural analysis (SAP2000, STAAD, or equivalent)Strong understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical dataConcrete and steel material specification and curing requirementsLifting & rigging engineering (padeye design, sling calculation)QualificationsBachelor’s degree in civil/Structural EngineeringPreferable: Licensed Professional Engineer / Chartered EngineerMinimum of 10 years in refinery or petrochemical project/turnaroundSolid experience with complex TA works such as:Foundation remediationPipe rack strengtheningHeat exchanger bundle change-out requiring temporary supportsBehavioral & Soft Skill RequirementsQuick decision-making under time pressureAble to work from drawings → field → calculation → executionStrong interface with Operations, Maintenance, QA/QC, and HSEAbout UsWood is a global leader in consulting and engineering, helping to unlock solutions to critical challenges in energy and materials markets.
