The Far North Queensland Region is seeking a Principal Education Officer to lead the Wellbeing and Guidance team within the broader Student Services Directorate. This is a temporary position based at the Cairns Regional Office, lasting until the end of 2027. Find out more about working with us .About The RoleAs the Principal Education Officer, you will lead and manage project teams to develop and implement strategies and initiatives focused on school improvement activities and services. You will also promote and foster a commitment to enhancing performance, capability, and capacity within the department by applying best practice, evidence-based approaches to teaching, learning, and school improvement.Your ResponsibilitiesAs the Principal Education Officer (EOSD), your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Lead operations of the Wellbeing and Guidance services including coordinating and supporting the provision of guidance and counselling services across Far North Queensland, ensuring the proactive and strategic implementation of the student learning and wellbeing framework and coordination of rapid responses to support schools. Management and support for Student Wellbeing and Guidance Services in the region including Principal Advisor, Mental Health, Senior Guidance Officers, Senior Advisors Psychology and Senior Advisors Social Work. Lead strategies that foster high quality collaboration, communication and information sharing to enable an understanding of the complexities and challenges that exist in the areas of mental health and wellbeing, family and student support, student protection and assisting students in achieving positive educational, developmental and lifelong learning outcomes. Lead implementation of project planning from data analysis through to reporting to senior regional staff. Experience consulting, collaborating and partnering with multidisciplinary and multiagency teams on shared priorities and outcomes is preferredInterested?
