Job Description

Join the Office of Industrial Relations as a Principal Marketing and Communication Officer (AO7) and lead strategic campaigns that make a real difference to the lives of Queenslanders. You'll develop and implement evidence-based awareness, education, and engagement initiatives across work health and safety, electrical safety, workers' compensation, and industrial relations. This is a leadership role where you'll mentor a small team, collaborate across government, and drive behaviour change through impactful communication. The opportunityWe're looking for a talented and strategic communication professional to join our Strategic Communication and Data directorate as a Principal Marketing and Communication Officer (AO7).

This is a leadership role where you'll lead the design, delivery and evaluation of integrated marketing and communication strategies that drive behavioural change and raise awareness across Queensland's safety and industrial relations systems. You'll work in a high-performing, agile environment where your advice and leadership will influence campaigns that support the safety and wellbeing of workers, businesses and communities. You'll mentor and support a small team of marketing and communication officers and play a key role in ensuring campaign work is on brief, on time, and aligned with our regulators' strategic priorities.

Your Key Responsibilities Lead strategic, evidence-based communication strategies and integrated campaigns. Design and deliver awareness, education and behavioural change initiatives across work health and safety, electrical safety, workers' compensation, and industrial relations. Provide expert advice to senior leaders, internal stakeholders and campaign partners. Coach and mentor a small team to deliver high-quality campaign outputs. Collaborate across business units to develop communication strategies that support operational priorities. Drive best practice marketing governance, evaluation, and performance monitoring. Contribute to a culture of collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement. What We're Looking ForWe are seeking someone who:

Has experience leading major integrated campaigns or communication strategies, ideally in a government or regulatory environment. Demonstrates strong strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement and project delivery skills. Communicates with influence and is confident advising senior executives and clients. Leads with integrity, builds high-performing teams, and supports a culture of inclusion. Has a sound understanding of marketing governance and campaign evaluation principles. A relevant tertiary qualification in marketing, communications, or related discipline is preferred. What We Offer Temporary full-time AO7 role to 3 March 2026 Salary $131,080 to $140,381 p. a. + 12.
