We are looking for a Principal Quality Automation Engineer who embodies this belief and helps elevate quality across our global engineering community.About The RoleThe Principal Quality Automation Engineer is a hands-on, player-coach engineer who designs and leads quality automation strategies that improve stability, speed, and customer trust across the platform.You will work across teams, helping engineering and product leaders adopt practices that push quality into design and development. You will champion a shift-left mindset, building testability into architectures, automation into pipelines, and quality into daily habits.This is a role for someone who loves building systems as much as testing them, an AI-native engineer who leverages automation, data, and intelligent tooling to make quality scalable. You will influence architecture decisions, drive continuous feedback loops, and help create a culture where quality is everyone’s job.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement automation frameworks and test strategies that ensure system stability, resilience, and customer satisfactionEmbed with engineering teams to guide and influence test design, architectural decisions, and development practices that produce built-in qualityWork across the engineering organization to define patterns and practices for unit, integration, and end-to-end testing that align with CI/CD and deployment pipelinesLead initiatives that use AI-assisted testing, intelligent validation, and self-healing test automation to scale quality across teamsServe as a technical mentor and coach, teaching engineers how to write better tests, instrument better observability, and think critically about user outcomesCollaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to ensure user stories are testable, measurable, and aligned with customer needsDrive a shift-left quality culture by integrating test feedback early in design and development cyclesActively participate in design reviews, pairing sessions, and architecture discussions to improve system reliability and testabilityPartner with Platform and DevSecOps teams to build automated quality gates, release verification, and quality metrics dashboardsContinuously refine automation coverage, performance, and reliability through experimentation and data-driven learningEngage with customers and support teams to understand real-world use cases and ensure quality automation reflects customer realitiesEvangelize quality engineering practices across the organization through documentation, workshops, and internal community leadershipQualificationsExperience and Background 10+ years of software engineering or quality automation experience in large-scale, enterprise-grade systemsProven success designing and implementing automation frameworks across multiple platforms and architecturesDeep knowledge of modern test automation frameworks (Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, Jest, etc.) and integration with CI/CD systemsStrong background in software architecture, APIs, and event-driven systems, with an understanding of how to design for testability and observabilityFamiliarity with AI-assisted testing tools or frameworks (e.g., code generation, model-based testing, or anomaly detection in test data)Experience in cloud-native environments, ideally AWS, with understanding of infrastructure automation and quality validation at deploymentHands-on experience with Extreme Programming (XP) or similar collaborative practices such as TDD, pairing, and continuous deliveryExposure to event-driven architectures, microservices, and contract testingStrong understanding of data-driven quality metrics and DORA-style performance measuresExperience working with cross-functional teams in complex environments requiring alignment, diplomacy, and influenceCollaboration and Leadership Highly collaborative player-coach who leads by doing and inspires others through exampleClear and empathetic communicator who can build credibility with engineers, architects, and business leaders alikeComfortable handling conflict and guiding discussions toward fact-based, data-driven decisionsSkilled at building alignment across teams and driving adoption of new practices through influence rather than authorityStrategic and structured thinker who can connect system design, testing, and customer outcomes into a coherent quality strategyMindset and Values Believes in built-in quality, not quality as a phase or roleOperates with a shift-left mindset, integrating quality early into design and developmentCustomer-obsessed, motivated by understanding how people actually use the productAI-native engineer who leverages automation, learning systems, and tooling to scale qualityValues clarity, feedback, and teamwork as essential to engineering excellenceContinuous learner who experiments, iterates, and improves with humility and curiosityWhat Success Looks LikeTesting and quality automation are deeply embedded in every stage of design and developmentTeams deliver features faster, with fewer defects and higher confidence in productionAutomated validation and observability reduce manual effort and improve response time to issuesEngineers across the organization adopt consistent, reliable quality practices and own themCustomers experience smoother, more reliable, and more intuitive interactions across CINC productsThe Principal Quality Automation Engineer is recognized as a trusted influencer and teacher, helping elevate engineering standards company-wideCINC is an Equal Opportunity Employer of women, minorities, protected veterans and individuals with disabilities.
