Job Description

Our client, a global leader in their field, is looking for a Regional Privacy and Compliance Manager for Central Europe to join their team on a permanent basis.The organisation is at an exciting juncture in their growth story and as a result, they are looking for an experienced and highly pragmatic privacy specialist to oversee the rollout and ongoing effectiveness of their privacy and compliance frameworks. The ideal candidate combines strong regulatory expertise with a practical, business-enabling mindset, someone who can safeguard compliance while supporting commercial goals, operational efficiency and marketing innovation.This role will be a central point of coordination for regional privacy and compliance matters, working closely with business functions such as IT, HR, Marketing and Communications, and collaborating with Group-level Privacy, Compliance and Legal teams.Key responsibilities:Serve as the primary regional contact for privacy questions and issues, acting as the liaison with internal teams, customers, supervisory authorities and local DPOs.Provide clear and accurate guidance on national data protection rules and regulatory expectations.Lead or support Data Privacy Impact Assessments when legally required or operationally beneficial.Drive the implementation of Group privacy standards, policies, processes and training within the region.Advise the business on privacy considerations relating to procurement, vendor assessments, marketing activities, digital platforms, technological tools and information security.Oversee personal data handling practices across the region, including maintaining and reviewing Records of Processing Activities and Data Processing Agreements.Assist with the management and fulfilment of Data Subject Access Requests.Coordinate responses to privacy incidents and data breaches, ensuring timely communication with Group functions and, where necessary, regulatory bodies.Promote and embed the organisation’s Compliance Programme throughout Central Europe, ensuring colleagues understand and follow the Code of Conduct, whistleblowing mechanisms and compliance policies.Assess whether global guidance needs local adaptation and prepare region-specific procedures where appropriate.Partner with the business to ensure activities comply with legal requirements and internal standards, recommending practical controls and mitigation measures.Contribute to compliance risk assessments, reviews, monitoring activities and investigations, in cooperation with Group Compliance.To be considered for the role you should:Have a strong understanding of relevant data protection regulations, especially those applicable in Germany.Be pragmatic, adaptable and have strong commercial awareness.Have proven ability to influence diverse stakeholders and work effectively across functions.Have excellent communication and interpersonal abilities at all organisational levels.Have prior experience in a multinational environment.Be fluent German and English.This position offers the chance to play a pivotal role in shaping and strengthening privacy and compliance across a rapidly expanding, purpose-led organisation.
