Role TitleBuyer – Procurement (Construction / Civil Engineering)Reporting ToProcurement Manager / Commercial ManagerExcellent Salary and PackageRole PurposeTo manage and deliver the effective procurement of materials, plant, equipment, and subcontract services required for my Client, The Buyer will ensure all goods and services are sourced to the right quality, on time, and within budget — supporting project delivery and company growth objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesManage end-to-end procurement for assigned projects — from tendering and quotation through to purchase order and delivery.Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure best value and quality.Develop and maintain supplier relationships to secure reliable and cost-effective supply chains.Ensure all materials, plant, and services are procured in line with project programmes and technical specifications.Work closely with project managers, site teams, estimators, and accounts to coordinate procurement needs and priorities.Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, and resolve delivery or quality issues promptly.Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, purchase orders, supplier databases, and cost reports.Support the implementation of procurement policies, framework agreements, and cost-saving initiatives.Ensure all procurement activity complies with company procedures, safety, environmental, and quality standards.Person SpecificationEssential:Proven experience as a Buyer or Assistant Buyer within construction or civil engineering.Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.Excellent commercial awareness and cost control ability.Solid understanding of construction materials, plant hire, and subcontract procurement.Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and purchasing/ERP systems.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Desirable:Qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, or Construction Management.Experience working on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.Familiarity with framework agreements and long-term supplier contracts.Knowledge of relevant safety, quality, and environmental compliance in construction procurement.Key CompetenciesCommercially focused and results driven.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Proactive problem solver.Team player with good collaboration skills.Ethical, transparent, and compliant approach to procurement.LocationCo.
