Job Description
Our client is a Commodity trading company based in Geneva. We are seeking an experienced and proactive Procurement Specialist to lead the implementation of procurement practices across their operations in the UK and Europe. This role is central to driving process standardisation, improving procurement standards and procedures and maximising group wide supplier agreements across multiple sites and geographies. The ideal candidate will bring proven procurement experience within industry, preferably the energy/commodity sector, and a strong understanding of the complex operational, technical and regulatory demands associated with this environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to introduce consistent procurement strategies that reduce costs, manage risk, and increase value. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Partner with colleagues to develop and implement a centralised procurement strategy across all sites, aligned with the business’ operational and strategic goals. Standardise procurement processes, templates, systems and documentation to ensure consistency, compliance, and transparency across the business. Identify and introduce procurement best practices across all functions, leveraging industry knowledge to support this. Lead supplier consolidation initiatives, renegotiating and improving commercial terms to deliver cost savings and contractual robustness. Partner with procurement specialists on our sites to understand our complex requirements and provide procurement support that aligns with project and operational needs. Ensure all procurement activities meet internal governance standards and sector specific regulatory requirements.Conduct supplier performance reviews, manage risk, and drive continuous improvement in supplier relationships, in conjunction with procurement colleagues.Support the harmonisation of contracts across sites and possible implementation of digital procurement tools or systems. Monitor and report on procurement KPIs to track progress and identify improvement opportunities. Implement a robust yet agile procurement process for the Head Office demandsQUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Significant experience in a procurement role within the industry and/or energy sector (e.g. power generation, utilities, oil & gas, renewables or industrial manufacturing); or similar. Strong background in strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, and supplier management within technically complex environments.Demonstrated success in implementing procurement processes across multiple sites or business units, ideally within the UK and Europe.Knowledge of industry standards, HSEQ requirements, and regulatory considerations within the energy or heavy industry sectors.Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work across operational, engineering and commercial functions. Proficiency in procurement systems, contract management tools and data analysis. Experience supporting CAPEX projects or long-term service agreements.Familiarity with European energy regulations and cross-border supplier frameworks is highly desirable.Proficiency in other European languages, would be advantageous.
