ROLE- Product Design EngineerLOCATION- Southampton TERM- PermanentSALARY- £38,000 - £45,000, dependent on experience My client is a specialist product designer and manufacturer. They are looking for a Product Design Engineer, with strong experience designing consumer products, to join their team in Southampton on a permanent basis.The Product Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:Degree qualified in Product Design, Industrial Design or similarAt least 3 years’ experience in a similar Design Engineering positionHands-on experience with R&D, testing and prototype developmentExperience working on full lifecycle design projects A sound understanding of Mechanical Engineering processes and materials Previous work experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment would be beneficialBe proficient using 2D and 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite etc.Experienced working with a range of materials including metal and plastics Be technically minded with a head for problem solvingProven ability to drive Engineering developmentAble to work to specific requirements and deadlinesExcellent attention to detailOrganised with excellent communication and teamwork skillsThe Product Design Engineer role will involve:Developing ideas from concept through to production Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawingsWorking on full lifecycle product design projects Speaking to End Users and doing market research Liaising with manufacturing providersBeing involved in final assembly of productsCreating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plansUpdating 3D models and drawingsInputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMsChecking drawings for sign offWorking in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projectsIf you are interested in this position, please apply with an up to date CV as soon as possible.
