About Our Client PartnerOur client is a globally recognized, BOI-approved manufacturing and export leader based in Sri Lanka. With a strong international presence and a talented workforce of over 450 employees, they specialize in heavy manufacturing operations. They are committed to engineering excellence, optimizing processes, and driving innovation in the production of heavy steel components for global markets.Key Responsibilities Process Management & Optimization: Manage and optimize complex manufacturing processes, including:Metal Forming (rolling, pressing, flanging). Welding Techniques (Flash Butt, SAW, MIG/MAG). Machining of heavy steel components. Heat Treatment processes. Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with quality and testing standards, including advanced weld inspections (UT, MPI, DP), and paint pre-treatment/coating processes. Engineering Tools: Utilize CAD/CAM tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for design and support analysis with FEA tools (ANSYS or equivalent). Efficiency & Improvement: Drive Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives to continuously improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize cost and yield. Leadership & Collaboration: Lead operators, welders, and machinists to achieve production goals while ensuring strict adherence to safety standards. Collaborate closely with QA, design, and production teams. Machine Stability: Take responsibility for machine stability, ongoing maintenance, and re-engineering efforts. Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Production Engineering, or Materials/Metallurgical Engineering (optional but valuable). Experience: 2-5 years of hands-on experience in a heavy manufacturing environment (e.g., automotive, steel fabrication, wheel/rim production, or similar). Technical Skills:Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems for production planning. Strong problem-solving skills, utilizing methodologies like Root Cause Analysis, 8D, and 5-Why. Good knowledge of tolerances, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and precision measurement. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Preferred Extras:Certification in Welding Engineering (IWE/IWT). Training in Lean / Six Sigma (Green Belt). Familiarity with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 quality management systems.
