Production Shift Supervisor

Group Company: HFCLDesignation: Shift Engineer – Coating / Ground / Furnace FloorLocation: Hyderabad (Manufacturing Plant)Department: Draw Tower (New_HP_OF_DT)Reporting To: Head – Draw TowerPosition OverviewThe Shift Engineer will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations at the Optical Fibre Draw Tower, ensuring efficient production, quality output, and adherence to safety and operational standards. The role requires hands-on experience in fibre drawing sub-processes such as furnace, die floor, and centralized coating systems, preferably with exposure to Draw Tower technologies from Nextrom, S.G. Controls, Conductix Delachaux, or ZTT.Primary ResponsibilitiesOperate and monitor all die floor activities across three shifts as per standard operating procedures (SOPs).Ensure achievement of shift production targets, maintaining required yield and product quality.Maintain all equipment in optimal working condition and ensure minimal downtime.Conduct regular inspections and submit shift performance and progress reports.Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend corrective or improvement measures.Ensure accurate and timely production data entries in ERP systems.Troubleshoot process and operational issues during the shift.Operate and manage centralized coating systems, including changeovers and maintenance coordination.Additional ResponsibilitiesAdhere to all Quality Management System (QMS) and Environment, Occupational Health & Safety (EOHS) standards.Maintain a safe and hazard-free workplace, minimizing risks of slips, trips, and physical injuries.Promptly report near-miss incidents or safety-related concerns.Educational QualificationsDegree: Bachelor’s Degree or DiplomaSpecialization: Mechanical Engineering or related disciplineWork ExperienceIndustry: Optical Fibre ManufacturingExperience: Relevant experience in draw tower operations and fibre drawing processes preferredKey Competencies & SkillsStrong knowledge of die floor fibre drawing processes and coating systemsExcellent process troubleshooting and problem-solving abilitiesProficiency in Microsoft Office and production reporting toolsUnderstanding of raw materials, process equipment, and waste generation managementKnowledge of fire extinguishers and plant safety proceduresCustomer-focused mindset with commitment to quality and continuous improvementStrong analytical, planning, and scheduling capabilitiesEffective communication and teamwork skillsBehavioral AttributesAchievement Orientation: Sets high standards and strives for excellenceSelf-Confidence: Demonstrates ownership and positive self-beliefCommitment: Displays strong work ethic and accountabilityPersistence: Maintains a positive, solution-oriented approach under pressureFlexibility: Adapts quickly to changing operational requirementsIntegrity: Practices openness, honesty, and ethical behaviorLeadership: Provides guidance and constructive feedback to team members
