Job DescriptionAre you an accomplished cybersecurity academic with a strong track record in high-impact research, successful funding acquisition, and excellence in teaching?The Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science (DTU Compute) invites applications for a full professorship in cybersecurity. The position is based in the Section for Cybersecurity Engineering - an interdisciplinary team conducting cutting-edge research and delivering high-quality education in cybersecurity and cryptography. The section covers a wide spectrum of cybersecurity topics, including pervasive computing security, Internet and dark web measurements, IoT and OT security, network security, intrusion detection systems, usable security and privacy, quantum and post-quantum cryptography, secure computation and symmetric cryptography.The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to all four pillars of DTU’s mission: research, education, innovation, and research-based consultancy for industry and public institutions.Responsibilities And QualificationsThe position encompasses research, research-based teaching, and public outreach activities within the field of cybersecurity. As the Cybersecurity Engineering section continues to grow, we are seeking a new Professor of Cybersecurity to help address the increasing security challenges faced by one of the world’s most digitalized societies - characterized by high levels of trust between citizens and public authorities. The role supports this mission through excellence in research, education, and research-based advice.In particular, we are looking for a professor with comprehensive expertise in cybersecurity and a broad, interdisciplinary research profile. In particular, we aim to strengthen our capabilities in the following areas:Active Cyber Defense (including cyber deception, dark web monitoring, and adversarial cybersecurity)Network Security for Critical Infrastructure (including AI/ML-based threat detection and defense for Internet of Things (IoT) and Operational Technology (OT) systems)Internet-Level Measurements for CybersecurityBotnets and advanced Cyber-Crime OperationsThe successful candidate is expected to:Successfully attract funding from national and international funding agenciesSupervise and develop the curriculum of existing courses, lead the creation of innovative teaching activities, and contribute to excellent teaching in cybersecurity across all levels of the department’s educational programmesProvide research-based advice to Danish and EU authorities on a broad range of cybersecurity issuesInitiate and develop research collaboration within the section, across the department, and at national and international levelsInitiate and develop cross-disciplinary researchBe visionary in the development of new research fields and strategic alliancesEngage in high-quality research communication, including public outreach, targeted dissemination to specialized audiences, and invited talks and tutorials at national and international conferencesOrganize national and international conferences and other initiatives to foster industrial collaboration, research networking, and global visibilityYou are expected to take a lead role in teaching at the BEng, BSc, MSc and PhD levels.DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English.
