About Rett’s RoostRett’s Roost is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of families facing childhood cancer and child loss by providing them with programs that provide therapeutic healing, increase emotional wellbeing, and cultivate a supportive peer network. Founded in 2015, we have hosted over 200 families across New England, NY, and beyond at one of our free, overnight, signature retreats. Through our thoughtful and compassionate programming, Rett’s Roost offers families a place of respite, renewal, and connection.Position OverviewWe are seeking a dynamic Director of Programs to join our mission-driventeam. This flexible, primarily remote position (with in-person event attendance required, including some weekends) is integral to advancing our mission, family support programs, and community engagement. The ideal candidate will be a hardworking, self-sufficient, detail-oriented professional with strong project management skills and a passion for supporting families facing childhood health challenges and child loss.Key ResponsibilitiesProgram ManagementPlan, coordinate, and execute 2 family group retreats (5-days), 2 parent group retreats (weekend), 2-4 individual family retreats per year (weekends), and 3-5 single-day in-person family programs.Work closely with referral partners and ED on recruitment for all programsRecruit and support volunteers and subcontractors for retreats and events.Manage program logistics, including scheduling, participant communication, and subcontractor coordination.Collaborate with retreat support teams to design healing, therapeutic, and community-building experiences for families.Organize and pack all supplies and materials required for retreats and social gatherings using our storage facility in Wells, ME and rental van when needed (eg., family group retreats).Report regularly to ED on program and recruitment progress for all programsAdhere to program and retreat budgetsDesign and conduct surveys for program participants and providers to evaluate program impact, outcomes and to inform improvements.Document individual peer coaching and online group sessions in CRM systemFundraising SupportAssist ED on admin tasks for our largest fundraising event, the Ogunquit Home & Garden Tour in SeptemberHelp ED with donor communication when neededPartnerships & Community EngagementBuild and maintain relationships with families, volunteers, and the therapeutic support teamRepresent Rett’s Roost at local events and networking opportunities to expand visibility and support for our programs.Mail out program brochures quarterly or when requested to hospitals and organizations that work directly with children with cancer or bereaved familiesBuild the organization’s network of referral partners, including children’s hospitals, hospices, palliative care programs, and other nonprofits serving childhood cancer patients.Support ED at one conference annually, which may include air travel and up to 3 days awayAdministrative & Strategic SupportTrack and report on program participation, outcomes, and event performance.Work with the ED on long-term program development and event growth strategies.Contribute to grant applications, reports, and donor communications by providing program data and testimonials.Support Rett’s Roost’s communications efforts by providing content for newsletters, social media, and the website.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the nonprofit sectorStrong project management skills with excellent attention to detailEmpathy, compassion, and strong listening skills to support parents and children who are sufferingRequired overtime during events with fewer hours during slow periodsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience with event planning and volunteer coordinationProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, as well as Google DocsAbility to work independently in a remote environmentRequired travel for events and in-person meetingsFirst Aid Certification within first three months (Rett’s Roost will pay for certification)Preferred QualificationsExperience using Jotform, Canva, and Little Green Light or similar CRMPhotography and videography skills (using phone)Bilingual capabilities (Spanish preferred)Working ConditionsLocation: Primarily remote with travel to southern Maine for events andmeetingsSchedule: Actual hours may vary from time to time, as needed, in order to fulfill overall responsibilities. Employee will be expected to work extended hours before, during, and after in-person programs and events, specifically during our two family group retreats in the summer. Working on weekends is required for approximately 24-30 weekend days per year. Non-event work hours can be somewhat flexible but must be consistent (ie: employee works 9-5 or 10-6) with a flexible schedule on Fridays or Mondays when weekend work is required.Travel: Regular travel to event locations and partner sitesPhysical Requirements: Ability to lift 25+ pounds for event setup and materialsmanagementCompensation & BenefitsSalary: $52,000 to $62,000* annuallyRett’s Roost offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience,including vacation benefits , a health care stipend, professional development opportunities, and the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of families facing pediatric cancer and child loss.
