SOS Children’s Villages Ghana is a child welfare organization that provides stable, Family-Like Care (FLC) for children in need. We also offer social services to families at risk through our Family Strengthening Projects. We currently operate in four locations Tema, Asiakwa, Kumasi, and Tamale, with our national office located in Accra. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and dynamic persons for appointment on our EU-Ghana Youth Empowerment Program “Spark Change Makers” (Empowering Youth-Led CSOs and Social Entrepreneurs) Project asPosition Project AccountantDuty Post Asokre Mampong, with occasional travel to partner and project sites across six regionsReports To Project Coordinator (directly) & Financial Controller (functionally)Supervises Finance and Compliance OfficerDuration 40 months (Contract renewable based on performance and availability of funds)Role OverviewThe Project Accountant plays a key leadership role in ensuring the financial integrity and accountability of the Spark Change-Makers Project. This position is responsible for the overall financial management, budget control, reporting, and compliance of the project, ensuring that every transaction meets EU donor requirements, SOS Children’s Villages (SOS CV) financial standards, and Ghana’s statutory laws. The Project Accountant works closely with the Project Coordinator, partners, and sub-grantees to ensure that resources are used efficiently, transparently, and for their intended purpose.Qualifications And ExperienceA Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.A recognized professional qualification (ACCA, CA, CIMA, or equivalent) is highly preferred.Proficiency in accounting software (D365 Finance and Operations) and strong Excel and data analysis skills.At least five years of professional experience in financial management, preferably within an EU or other international donor-funded project.Strong background in budgeting, financial reporting, grant management, and audits.Proven experience managing sub-grants and partner financial oversight.Excellent understanding of Ghana’s financial laws, tax systems, and NGO financial standards.Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Tally, or SunSystems) and strong Excel and data analysis skills.Experience with financial risk management and internal control systems.Key Responsibilities Will Involve.Financial Management and AccountingBudgeting and Financial PlanningPartner and Sub-Grant ManagementCompliance, Internal Control, and AuditReporting and CoordinationCapacity Building and SupportSupervision of Finance and Compliance officersSOS Children’s Villages Ghana is committed to preventing any type of unwanted behaviour at work, including sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse, lack of integrity and financial misconduct, and is committed to promoting the welfare of children, young people, adults, and beneficiaries with whom SOS Children’s Villages Ghana engages.
