Matchbox Consulting Group is partnering with an award winning General Construction firm based in Surrey for a seasoned Project Manager to spearhead their Special Projects Division. This role will grant you access to a wide range of projects with different high level clients.Role SummaryThe Project Manager’s role is to lead, organize, and manage a project’s construction team to achieve the balance of Risk & Liability, Client satisfaction, Project financial targets and Project schedule. The Project Manager manages all day to day progress with a focus on Safety, Financial Performance, Team Management/Leadership, Contract Management, Client, Consultant, and Subtrade Relationships.This role reports directly to the Director of Special Projects and is in frequent communication with key stakeholders such as the subcontractors.MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITYManage Financial Performance (Cashflow, Profit)Monitor and control project costs and budgets throughout the project lifeOversee the project’s financial results and cash flowManage and negotiate the Change Order processProject OptimizationDevelop and update Risk Plan Matrix with Director of SP, and manage throughout the projectEvaluate potential project execution strategies to ensure implementation of the best sequence utilization of materials, equipment, labour and subcontractors for successful outcomesDevelop a project execution plan in collaboration with the Superintendent, General Superintendent and DirectorSchedule the project (or assume responsibility for the Schedule) using Primavera P6 to manage construction activitiesAnticipate changes (scope, drawings, trades, staff, material, etc.) and manage effectivelyTeam Management / LeadershipInitiate, organize, and direct the Project Team to ensure project budget, scope, and schedule are attainableCollaborate with Superintendent and Field Staff to ensure clear direction, safety and site managementLead the project team on construction methodology, procedures, and practices on an ongoing basis, in coordination with the Superintendent and General SuperintendentAdvise Executive staff monthly on status of project (using Procore)Review project progress, cost, and schedule with the project team weeklyProactively manage project activities to improve efficiency and effectivenessResolve disputes in a timely manner using conflict resolution strategiesDevelop, mentor and coach Project CoordinatorsEnsure the team understands operating policies & practices and is applying them appropriatelyMaintain a superior worksite with an emphasis on safety, ensuring OH&S standards are followed throughout all aspects of the projectBuild successful project team and manage team cohesivenessContract ManagementAssist, review and negotiate Prime contracts with the Director of SPExecute Prime contract deliverableNegotiate subtrade contracts with the Director of Construction as requiredAccountable for building successful project team relationships RequiredREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Leadership, Conflict Resolution, and Mediation skillsAdvanced Communication (written and verbal) skillsStrategic Thinking and Problem-Solving skillsPlanning and Execution ManagementRisk ManagementQA/QC ManagementContract Law, Lien Regulations, and Insurance and bonding.5 + years acting as PM for a General ContractorComputer SkillsProficient use of Microsoft apps: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint,Proficient use of project management software (i.e., Procore)Proficient use of BluebeamProficient use of scheduling software (i.e., Primavera P6)Demonstrated use of health & safety management softwareFor more current job opportunities, Follow MatchBox at linkedin.com/company/matchbox-recruitment/_________________________About MatchBoxHeadquartered in downtown Vancouver and serving clients nationally, MatchBox is one of the leading recruitment and solutions firms that specializes in the fields of IT & Technology, Engineering & Technical, Real Estate & Construction, and Accounting & Finance.
