Project Manager

Role: Project Manager AltGen is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a renewable energy company based in Cape Town or Johannesburg. The role will lead the rollout of a multi-site Solar PV + Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) program across a portfolio of client sites. This is a high-impact role requiring strong technical, commercial, and leadership skills to successfully deliver projects from construction through to commercial operation.ResponsibilitiesFormulation of renewable energy strategy for clientsLead for delivery of individual utility-scale projectsCoordination of in-house and third party resources for project deliveryQuantitative analysis and identifying solutionsSenior client and stakeholder engagements and relationship managementFinancial management and modellingManage end-to-end delivery of large-scale, ground-mounted solar PV + BESS projects from design freeze to COD.Oversee and coordinate onsite construction managers and contractors, ensuring safety, quality, time, and budget compliance.Engage and collaborate with senior client executives to drive successful outcomes and long-term partnerships.Take accountability for project budgets exceeding R500M, ensuring financial control and commercial integrity.Provide leadership to multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders across multiple project sites.Ensure regulatory, contractual, and technical compliance throughout project delivery.Requirements8–10 years’ project management experience, with a strong track record in large-scale renewable energy projects.Proven success in delivering ground-mounted solar PV projects from construction through to commercial operation.Direct experience managing projects with >R500M budgets.Excellent stakeholder management, including engagement with senior client executives.
