Company DescriptionTownsend Contracting is a reputable, privately owned multi disciplinary contractor delivering fire safety and remediation works for leading Build to Rent developers, with ongoing projects across major regional cities. With a growing pipeline of projects, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager to take a leading role on a secured large scale remediation project involving multiple apartment blocks.Role DescriptionCommencing January 2026, this is a full time, on-site Project Manager role based in Salford, Manchester, United Kingdom.This position requires proven experience in managing internal remediation works. The works include firestopping installation, fire door remediation and associated works within apartments.Candidates should be familiar with the challenges of working in occupied buildings, particularly coordinating works to minimise disruption to residents while ensuring strict adherence to quality, safety, and compliance standards throughout the project.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the project from commencement through to completion, ensuring the scope is delivered to the highest standards of quality and safety.Lead a multidisciplinary team, including subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour.Manage day-to-day operational aspects of the project.Develop, implement, and continuously update project plans, programmes, and resource schedules to meet deadlines, critical path, and contractual requirements.Maintain rigorous oversight of QA processes, ensuring all works comply with company standards, project quality requirements, and third-party accreditation standards.Review and coordinate confidently with design teams and fire consultants on technical requirements.Conduct regular site inspections and quality audits, coordinating with QA software such as Bolster Systems.Coordinate with external consultants, residents, and key stakeholders, maintaining clear and consistent communication throughout the project.Oversee site health and safety, ensuring full compliance with legal requirements and company policies. Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks, resolving issues quickly to minimise delays.Provide regular progress reports to the Client, presenting updates on project milestones, timelines, and risks.Ensure all project documentation is maintained, including progress reports, meeting minutes, QA records, risk registers, and other relevant documentation.Lead snagging and handover processes, ensuring client satisfaction.Drive continuous improvement by reviewing project outcomes and embedding lessons learned.QualificationsProven experience leading fire safety remediation works, including block refurbishments in a live environment (highly desirable).Strong project management skills with the ability to manage timelines and multiple phases.Effective leadership and communication skills, with experience reporting to clients, consultants, and stakeholders.In-depth knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations and compliance.Proficiency in MS Project and other management software.Experience with QA systems such as Bolster Systems or similar.Experience in live, regulated, or complex environments is desirable.Strong planning, organisational, and continuous improvement skills.Clean enhanced DBS check.Higher-level qualification in construction management, engineering, or a related field. CSCS (Manager level) and SMSTS certifications required.
