Purpose of the PositionThe Protection Specialist will contribute to the design, implementation, and quality assurance of SARD’s Protection and Child Protection programmes in Syria. The role will ensure alignment with international standards and provide technical guidance, capacity building, and monitoring support to field teams. Key ResponsibilitiesProgramme Management & DevelopmentProvide technical input and support for the implementation of Child Protection (CP) and Protection activities in Syria and.Support the development of programme strategies and project proposals in collaboration with the Protection & Safeguarding Advisor and relevant field staff.Contribute to budget planning and ensure activities align with programme objectives and donor requirements.Technical GuidanceProvide technical advice on case management, psychosocial support (PSS), and alternative care for unaccompanied and separated children.Participate in case review and programme coordination meetings, ensuring adherence to Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action.Support field visits and provide coaching to programme teams in in Syria.Capacity Building & Team SupportProvide on-the-job training, mentoring, and capacity strengthening for Protection and CP staff.Contribute to performance appraisals and staff development plans.Promote a safe, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.Partnerships & CoordinationRepresent SARD in relevant sector and cluster meetings (e.g., Child Protection AoR, MHPSS, Protection Cluster).Support engagement with partners, donors, and community representatives.Contribute to protection mainstreaming across sectors.Safeguarding & AccountabilitySupport the implementation of safeguarding and PSEA policies across SARD programmes.Provide input to safeguarding risk assessments and awareness initiatives.Monitoring, Reporting & LearningContribute to monitoring frameworks, data analysis, and lesson learning for CP and Protection programmes.Support the preparation of reports for donors, partners, and internal use.Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the team. Qualifications & RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Humanitarian Studies, or related field (Master’s preferred). In lieu of a university degree, a minimum of 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in Child Protection/Protection in humanitarian contexts will be accepted.Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in Child Protection/Protection in humanitarian contexts.Strong understanding of international CP and Protection standards.Proven experience in technical guidance, training, and staff capacity development.Excellent communication and coordination skills.Fluency in English and Arabic required; Turkish an asset.Strong safeguarding background.
