Job Description

Position Title: Psychologist — Child Protection & Anti-TraffickingEmployment Type: Voluntary/unpaid/remoteAbout Marianco: Marianco is a nonprofit committed to protecting children from exploitation and trafficking while promoting their mental health and long-term recovery. We deliver case management, psychosocial support (PSS), family tracing and reunification, legal referrals, and community prevention activities for children at risk and survivors of trafficking.Role Overview: The Psychologist will deliver trauma-informed mental health services to children and adolescents affected by trafficking, exploitation, and abuse. The role combines individualized therapeutic care, group interventions, capacity building for staff and caregivers, and close coordination with child protection, legal, and health actors to ensure safe, child-centred care pathways.Key Responsibilities:Provide age-appropriate psychological assessments and clinical interventions (individual and group) for children and adolescents who are survivors or at risk of trafficking.Design and implement trauma-informed treatment plans and monitor clinical progress.Deliver crisis intervention and stabilization for newly identified survivors.Provide caregiver/family counseling and parenting support to facilitate safe reunification when appropriate.Support safe, child-friendly psychosocial activities and therapeutic group sessions (play therapy, art therapy, life-skills).Train and supervise caseworkers, social workers, and community volunteers on basic mental health care, psychological first aid (PFA), trauma-informed approaches, and safeguarding.Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, protection assessments, and development of comprehensive care plans.Maintain confidential clinical records, complete structured reporting and contribute to monitoring & evaluation (M&E).Contribute to prevention activities and community awareness on child trafficking and mental health stigma reduction.Ensure ethical practice, informed consent/assent procedures, and strict maintenance of confidentiality and child protection standards.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Clinical/Counselling Psychology or equivalent (Bachelor’s with relevant post-graduate clinical training may be considered).Licensed/registered to practice if required by national regulations.Minimum 3 years’ experience providing psychological care to children and adolescents; experience with survivors of trafficking, exploitation, or severe trauma strongly preferred.Training/experience in trauma-focused therapies (TF-CBT, EMDR, play therapy, or equivalent) and psychosocial interventions for children.Strong knowledge of child development, child protection principles, and safeguarding procedures.Excellent interpersonal, communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.Ability to work across languages and cultures; fluency in [local language] and proficiency in English preferred.Willingness to undergo security/background checks and child safeguarding verification.Desirable:Experience working in humanitarian/NGO settings and familiarity with CPIMS+ or other case management databases.Prior coordination with legal/medical teams for court testimony preparation, medico-legal referrals, or protection order processes.Training experience and capacity building in MHPSS frameworks.
