Job DescriptionJudges Personal Assistant – Waitakere District Court Permanent Full Time PositionMonday – Friday, based in the Waitakere District Court and to provide cover at the North Shore District Court.

Te Haeata/The OpportunityThe Judges Personal Assistant Is Responsible Forproviding an efficient and effective administrative and secretarial support service to District Court Judgesfacilitating effective liaison and communication within the PA judicial support teamacting as the key point-of-contact for incoming correspondence, callers and visitorsdealing with matters of a highly confidential and sensitive nature at senior levels throughout the business unit and the Ministrymaximising the Judges' ability to carry out their Judicial and extra Judicial responsibilities effectively. Judicial Personal Assistants report to the Ministry of Justice while taking day to day direction from the Judiciary.

Each PA supports approximately four District Court Judges. Your team is a part of the District Courts unit, which administers district, youth and family court services to support judicial decision making. This unit administers the systems and processes supporting criminal prosecutions and civil and family disputes.

This unit is part of the larger District Courts and Special Jurisdictions group. The group's purpose is delivering case management and effective administration of jurisdictional registries and supporting the judiciary. a relevant secretarial qualification and/or equivalent experiencea minimum accurate word processing speed of seventy words per minuteexcellent attention to detail, time management, and planning skillsable to relate to a wide range of people at all levelsstrong written and verbal communication skills.

Work Experienceprevious experience providing executive assistance, personal assistance or secretarial support to a diversified team of managers in a complex and busy environmentprevious experience in a legal or court environment is an advantageexperience in communicating effectively with individuals and groups (written and oral), including in situations which can be volatile or sensitiveexperience in events management and/or organising and co-ordinating activities and individuals at a senior levelexperience in general office duties, operating equipment etcexperience in working with a wide range of computer-based secretarial, administrative, and presentation applicationsexperience using liaison skills; especially with Maori, and networking abilityability to co-ordinate own and the Judge/s workability to work at a high level of independence, professionalism, and self-initiationdemonstrates a strong level or organisation and problem solving, and the ability to prioritise work effectively and meet deadlinesthe Judges PA role involves a high degree of self-direction with the ability to work autonomously as well as a in a geographically spread team.

A high level of empowerment, responsibility and accountability is expected. Utu ā-tau/SalaryThe remuneration band for this role is $59,729 to $80,794 – while the appointing salary will be based on skills and experience, we are willing to pay higher in the band to attract strong candidates into this role.
