Public Works Office Manager – San Fernando, CAHybrid (3 days on-site / 2 days remote)Interwest Consulting Group, a leader in municipal consulting and public-sector support services, is seeking a skilled Public Works Office Manager. This role provides administrative, billing, and operational coordination for Public Works activities, ensuring smooth workflows and high-quality service delivery.The ideal candidate has direct experience in a public works environment, strong billing and financial administration skills, and the ability to manage a fast-paced municipal office with professionalism and accuracy.Key ResponsibilitiesOffice & Operational SupportOversee daily operations of the Public Works office, ensuring efficient communication, documentation, and workflow.Serve as a primary liaison between Interwest staff, municipal departments, contractors, and community stakeholders.Coordinate schedules, meetings, and project documentation for Public Works leadership and field teams.Maintain records related to permits, inspections, work orders, maintenance activities, and capital improvement projects.Support procurement functions, including purchase orders, vendor invoicing, and departmental purchasing needs.Billing & Financial AdministrationManage and process billing for public works services, including labor, materials, equipment charges, and contracted work.Review, verify, and reconcile billing data to ensure accuracy and compliance with client municipal procedures.Prepare financial summaries, support budget tracking, and assist with reporting requirements.Collaborate closely with Interwest’s finance team to support monthly billing cycles and audit needs.Customer Service & CommunicationRespond to inquiries from residents, contractors, and municipal partners regarding work requests, permits, and service timelines.Draft and distribute internal communication, project updates, and public notices as required.Maintain a professional, client-service-oriented approach in all interactions.Project & Process SupportAssist Public Works leadership with project coordination, progress tracking, and documentation.Support process improvements, digital workflows, and technology updates that enhance office efficiency.Ensure adherence to municipal standards, departmental procedures, and Interwest quality practices.Qualifications3+ years of experience supporting a public works department, municipal agency, or operations-focused consulting environment.Strong experience in billing, invoicing, or financial administration.Exceptional organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and municipal/public works systemsAbility to manage competing priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.Familiarity with municipal operations, permitting, and public works workflows strongly preferred.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:  SAFEbuilt pays competitive wages and has a comprehensive benefit offering.
