Job Description

The Quality Control technician is responsible for ensuring that product is within specification before and during filling by performing all required analytical test procedures. Self directed, organized, GMP focused individual with excellent time management skills capable of understanding production processes. The Quality Control technician also participates in troubleshooting problems with the laboratory testing equipment. Shift work is required for this position and weekend work may be available to support overtime as required, unless a continental shifting pattern is implemented.This role is to cover maternity leave, vacation and off shifts in Minute Maid QA lab.ResponsibilitiesWork an 8-hour shift pattern within a 24-hour unionized production environment. Flexible to work any shift required.Follow company's policies and proceduresPerform all test procedures in accordance with QA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Sample products for testing and verify conformance to specifications for ingredients, pre-checks, and finished products from the production line.Conduct microbiological sampling, plating, and data interpretation for water, products, ingredients, and processes.Collect and package samples for shipment as required.Calculate and recommend batch adjustments.Clean, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory testing equipment and perform related procedures.Monitor process parameters and promptly report issues to Managers and Directors.Prepare analytical data with accuracy, completeness, and professionalism.Prepare standard solutions for wet chemistry methods.Maintain a clean and organized laboratory at all times.Identify and resolve problem areas, collaborating with QC Technicians and Production Associates in a team-oriented manner.Apply technical knowledge of juice production, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), WHMIS regulations, cleaning procedures, and safe chemical handling.Utilize SAP to perform QA functions.Identify and manage non-conforming materials.Work safely, professionally, and in compliance with established workplace standards.Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsMinimum two year college diploma from an accredited community college in a life science or laboratory science technician , or a Bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology, chemistry, food science, or other science discipline.Previous laboratory experience (academic or work-related).Knowledge of analytical techniques, chemistry, microbiology, mathematics, and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).Flexible and open to cross-training in other plant job functions as needed.Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, organizational, and judgment skills.Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to follow instructions, interpret manuals, and complete required online documentation.Ability to lift 20–50 lb safely.Ability to stand and work on multiple levels or in refrigerated/ freezer temperatures if required.Satisfactory work, safety, and attendance record.Ability to pass a Qualification Certification Process (QCP), including verbal, written, and hands-on operation of equipment and machinery.
