What We Are Looking ForWe are looking for a dedicated individual to join our BioTrain internship program for 6-12 months as a Rare Disease Patient Insights & Advocacy Intern.This role is targeting individuals who are passionate about improving the lives of people living with rare diseases. The role aims to strengthen the integration of patient perspectives into our strategies and external communication, contributing to initiatives that improve reimbursement opportunities and drive value for patients and healthcare across the Nordic and Baltic markets. In order to be successful in the role, an in-depth understanding of the challenges involved in living with a rare disease is required.Role SummaryThis internship offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the rare disease space in the Nordic and Baltic regions. The role focuses on integrating patient perspectives into our business strategies, ensuring that the voices of people living with rare diseases are represented in relation to Biogen’s aspirations to bring treatments to patients.As an intern, you will contribute your insights to initiatives that improve business strategies. You will work closely with our Communications, External Affairs and Value & Access teams, and collaborate with other cross-functional teams. You will ensure we include the patient-centric perspective, contribute to the development of value-based proposals for payers, and actively support initiatives that enhance disease awareness and communication with external stakeholders. All efforts are guided by the unique needs and perspectives of patients, ensuring that their voices shape strategies and drive meaningful change in the rare disease space.By leveraging the perspective of the patients, this role will help shape strategies that enhance patient access, drive advocacy, and ultimately improve the quality of life for individuals affected by rare conditions throughout the Nordic and Baltic regions.Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Perspective & InsightsCollect and analyze patient feedback through surveys, interviews, and collaboration. Collaboration with patient organizations. Identify unmet needs and barriers to treatment access in rare and chronic conditions. Summarize insights into actionable recommendations for internal teams. Support the development of patient-centric materials for market access, reimbursement submissions and disease awareness initiatives including social media campaigns. Provide input on adherence programs and patient support initiatives. Market Access SupportSupport development of value dossiers and reimbursement submissions with patient-relevant data and with a patient-centric viewpoint Monitor Nordic/Baltic reimbursement trends and patient involvement requirements. Stakeholder EngagementCollaborate with patient organizations and rare disease networks to understand priorities and needs. Participate in internal cross-functional meetings and bring patient perspectives and insights into actions and strategies. Participate in meetings with patient organizations, healthcare professionals, and internal teams and contribute to workshops and advisory boards focused on patient access. Data Analysis & ReportingCompile qualitative insights and summarize findings related to patient experiences and treatment pathways for internal stakeholders Prepare presentations highlighting patient priorities and impact on treatment pathways. Innovation & Best PracticesExplore best practices for patient involvement and suggest improvements to increase our knowledge of patient perspectives. Qualifications & SkillsUniversity degree or equivalent in healthcare, life sciences, social sciences, or related field. Strong communication and analytical skills. Interest in patient advocacy. Experience of policy work or patient association work is an advantage Experience of navigating the rare disease healthcare and support systems and knowledge of the life situation as a patient, as a relative or from work in the field, is a strong advantage as this insight is crucial to successfully represent the needs of this role. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Proficiency in English and a Nordic/Baltic language.
