Job Description

ElectricianThe Electrical section invites suitably qualified candidates to join their team.Main ObjectivesThe purpose of the job is to ensure the maintenance of all electrical networks and related equipment, including general electrical appliances used in the catering, residence and other divisions.The RequirementsQualified Installation Electrician (at least at NQF level 4) plus the following: -Have a valid HV Regs certificate to do MV switchingMust be a registered Electrician as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and registered with the Department of LabourA valid driver’s licence to legally drive a light delivery vehicleIn addition to the qualifications, approximately 3 years post-apprenticeship experience where such experience includes: -MV (11000V) installation, switching, distribution and protection maintenance with specific reference to SANS10142-2LV (220VAC/380VAC) installation, switching, distribution and protection maintenance with specific reference to SANS10142-1Power reticulation in buildings and the maintenance thereofInstalling, maintaining and repairing general lighting and/or sport lighting equipment.Must have worked with the regulations laid down by the OH&S ActOperating and maintaining standby generators, invertersAt least 1 year’s staff coordination/supervision experience OR have an RU Supervision or Foundation Supervision CertificateThe following experience and knowledge will be an advantage: -Operating and maintaining UPSsOperating and maintenance of electric boilers and heat pump hot water systemsOperating, inspection and maintenance of manual and addressable fire detection systems will be an added advantageFault diagnosis, maintenance and repair of general electrical appliances, including major commercial kitchen appliances, commercial laundry equipmentRenewable energy, especially solarLighting protection installation and maintenanceApplication ProcessIt is essential that prospective candidates read the job profile for further information and ensure that all relevant documentation is submitted.The Following Documents Are RequiredA comprehensive CV which should include the following: -Reasons for leaving your current and previous jobs.Referees who are and/or were your direct line manager, their title, name, designation and contact information which should be at least their contact number and email address.A motivation letter outlining your interest in the post and suitability relative to the job requirements.Matric/grade 12 certificate, HV Regs certificate, copy of a driver's licence, proof of registration with the Department of Labour)Please note that no hand-written applications will be considered.
