A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Ammonia refrigeration maintenance preferably in a FMCG processing environment and Trade Test certificate and an ammonia safe handling certificate with category B ammonia refrigeration registration with SAQCC gas is essential. The incumbent will be required to work shifts, have own transport and provide his own basic hand tools needed to perform the function of a Refrigeration Technician. Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration pumped systems, valve station operation, layout drawings and basic electrical knowledge is a must. This position carries the grade of T10.ResponsibilitiesPerform preventative maintenance, fault finding, and corrective repairs on Ammonia Refrigerant Plant SystemsDiagnose, repair and maintain commercial refrigeration equipment such as walk-in coolers, spiral freezers, ice machines, etc.Apply practical knowledge of Ammonia (NH3) systems for routine inspections, minor repairs and critical safety procedures within the factoryAccurately complete all necessary job cards, service reports and maintenance documentation, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.Adhere strictly to all health, safety, food-safety and environmental protocols, particularly when handling pressurised refrigerants and working on high-voltage systems.QualificationsQualified Artisan.Category B Ammonia Certificate.Knowledge on FMCG equipment operation and maintenance.Good interpersonal skills.Fault finding skills on both Mechanical & Electrical.Screw compressor knowledge and understanding.Good planning and organizational skills.Pay attention to detail.Stress Tolerance.Flexibility and adaptability with regards to breakdowns and working hoursClosing Date: 31 October 2025As Sovereign is an equal opportunity employer, preference will be given to applicants of designated groups, as defined by the Employment Equity Act.Apply
