Job DescriptionGENERIC INFORMATION ON THE FUNCTIONJob Title: Operational Marketing Director APACDivision: Advanced MaterialsLocation: ShanghaiReports to: Vice President, APACDepartment: MarketingDIMENSION OF THE JOBThis individual will serve as a subject matter expert for operational and tactical marketing (4Ps) and ensure product portfolio is aligned with specific markets and the registration and compliance of all SKUs. This position will gather information and provide guidance and recommendations for Sales, TS, Supply Chain and Operations. This individual will also maintain regular communication with customers to get acquainted with their needs and challenges and suggest potential solutions through the effective use of our product portfolio. He or she will be responsible for managing promotion and upgrading new media channels to ensure more effective communications with our customers.Key AccountabilitiesMarketing StrategyProvide market insight on competitive analysis, value chain positioning and customer segmentation to support strategic growth initiatives with Strategic MarketingFacilitate macroeconomic index and market segment assumption through integrated business planning (IBP process) processCollaborate Strategic Marketing and global functional teams on 5-year plan developmentTake key responsibility on 0-2 years segmental marketing strategy development and set governance on the execution with regional leadership teamAble to assess the market potential based on the sales opportunities to replicate the success growth stories to broader marketsCollaborate with sales and BD team on growth pipeline buildingInnovation Commercialization Drive regional commercialization of innovative projects, measure commercialization ratio and drive for improvement; govern project selection and progression; drive project management improvementAuthorize the introduction of new products / SKUs via NPI process, ensure market launch efficiently and well aligned with Global teamCoordinate go-to-market activities by collaborating with commercial, R&D, TS/PD, supply chain and operation teamProduct PortfolioMaximize gross margin by product portfolio management, ensure product life cycle paired with market trend, global strategy and ensure portfolio compliance (e.g., ITC, REACH registration, labeling, etc.)Work closely with purchasing to understand cost evolution, push for cost improvement; work closely with sales and supply chain on portfolio structure optimization in terms of cost, profit and inventory holdingRedirect resources to capitalize on emerging opportunities with regional commercial teamsHarvest profits while planning discontinuation.Pricing Lead regional pricing strategy together with global pricing team, to ensure pricing fit into business strategy and market competitivenessTake agile responding to changeable market in conjunction with commercial team and 360 strategy execution leadersWork on pricing battle with commercial team and track pricing performanceWork with global pricing function to lift regional pricing level from operational pricing to strategical pricingEnsure the regional pricing process efficiency and effectivenessPromotion and CommunicationManage promotional activities with communication team including digital, web, webinars, exhibitions, launches, media etcSupport commercial team in major promotional activities including product qualification Key RequirementsEducation Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Science/Engineering or any business discipline is preferredExperiencesMinimum of 10+ years of B2B marketing experience in a leadership role in marketing, product management, or managing projects is requiredKnow-how/skillsA strong understanding of marketing, sales and financial concepts. Extensive knowledge of the specialty chemical industry and some of the downstream markets.
