Regional Project Geologist

Our experienced team members are our most precious asset, having discovered, explored and developed more than 24Moz of gold resources and reserves in Ghana; and having managed Ghana’s largest underground mine.About This RoleThe Regional Project Geologist supports mineral discovery by planning and executing exploration activities across assigned project areas to support the discovery and evaluation of mineral resources while ensuring safety, cost effectiveness and efficient resource utilization. The role ensures data quality, supervises field teams and provides geological interpretation to guide drilling and target generation.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct exploration activities including mapping, soil and trench sampling activities.Perform geological logging activities on Reverse Circulation chips and diamond drill core.Execute detailed geological data review and analysis.Organize and supervise sampling crews for RC rig and ascertain that same samples are taken properly, processed properly, and sent to laboratory with appropriate duplicates, blanks, and standards.Implementation of QAQC protocols and programs.Observe operations to detect violation of Legal and Corporate requirements and report to management.Conduct geological sections with planned holes to guide ongoing drilling programs under the supervision of the senior geologist.Prepare and maintain drill hole statistics.Transfer field data into database and DD boreholes must be entered as soon as they have been completed.Perform geological interpretation.Participate in generation of prospective targets by reviewing and integrating various geological data sets.Provide representatives of drilling contractors with layout of design holes.Track drilling progress on daily basis.Visit drill sites to spot holes, assess safety & technical requirements.Participate in reducing overall exploration costs through effective utilization of resources.Supervision of any sample collection, storage, shipment performed by technicians.Ensure timely and accurate collation of geological data.Assist in accident and incident investigations and ensure that remedial actions are implemented by scheduled dates.Ensure daily reports are completed on time.Education, Work Experience & Key CompetenciesBachelor's degree in Geological Engineering, Earth Science, Geology or other relevant discipline is required.A post graduate degree is desirable.A minimum of 5 years’ experience in geology of which 2 years has been in an exploration role.Professional registration with a recognized professional association is desirable.Proven ability to lead teams and deliver projects successfully.Strong leadership and coordination skills with the ability to guide teams effectively and work collaboratively.Ability to develop geological interpretations of the mineralization through the implementation and supervision of geological Mapping.Solid knowledge of geology related QA/QC standards and methods.Proficiency in geological and mining related software (Micromine, Leapfrog, Surpac, Datamine, etc.).Must have good organizational and administrative skills.Must have experience in conflict resolution.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, time management and problem-solving abilities.
