Our client, a highly reputable international law firm, is seeking an accomplished Energy Lawyer to join its elite practice in Bucharest. This is a pivotal role within a dynamic team that advises on some of the most significant and complex energy and natural resources projects in Romania and the wider CEE region. The successful candidate will work closely with market-leading partners and an impressive international client base, including major energy companies, project developers, regulatory bodies, and financial institutions.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide expert legal counsel on a wide array of energy sector matters, including renewables (wind, solar), oil & gas, electricity markets, and conventional power.Manage a diverse range of non-contentious and contentious work, including project development, financing, regulatory compliance, M&A in the energy sector, and associated dispute resolution.Draft, review, and negotiate complex transactional and project agreements, such as Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts, joint venture agreements, and regulatory documentation.Advise clients on the intricacies of the Romanian energy regulatory framework (including ANRE regulations) and EU energy law directives.Conduct thorough due diligence for high-value energy transactions and provide strategic, commercially focused advice to clients.Collaborate effectively with specialist teams across the firm's international network on multi-jurisdictional assignments.Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor in the energy field.Candidate ProfileEssential Attainments and Experience:A Law Degree from a reputable university in Romania or an equivalent, internationally recognised qualification.Admitted to the Romanian Bar Association (Uniunea Națională a Barourilor din România - UNBR) or eligible for admission.A minimum of three (3) years of post-qualification experience with a strong focus on energy, natural resources, infrastructure, or projects law, preferably within a top-tier international or major local law firm.Proven practical experience in handling complex transactional and regulatory matters within the Romanian energy market.A solid understanding of the Romanian energy regulatory landscape (e.g., ANRE regulations).Key Skills and Qualities:Language Proficiency: Excellent command of both written and spoken Romanian and English is essential, with any additional European language skills considered a bonus.Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities, with meticulous attention to detail in high-stakes transactions.Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal and technical concepts clearly to diverse international stakeholders.Interpersonal Skills: A collaborative approach, professionalism, and the capacity to build strong client relationships and work effectively within a global team.Work Ethic: The ability to work under pressure, manage multiple high-priority transactions simultaneously, and meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Commercial Awareness: A commercially astute mindset with an understanding of the key drivers, risks, and opportunities within the European energy sector.Remuneration and BenefitsThe firm offers a highly competitive and attractive remuneration package that aligns with the top-tier international market and is commensurate with the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.
