The focus is on the development, testing and validation of measurement strategies for passive and active thermography as well as the processing and publication of multimodal sensor data.Scientific design and definition of measurement strategies for two-stage thermographic inspection (passive and active) inside rotor bladesSelection, procurement and integration of suitable hardware (thermographic camera, heat source) into the overall robotic system in coordination with the project partnersPlanning, organisation and implementation of experimental investigations on real rotor blade sections at the BAM site, as well as participation in data collection in the field (Germany and EU)Systematic processing, fusion and analysis of multimodal raw data (RGB, 3D scans, thermography)Creation and publication of a scientific reference data set in accordance with FAIR principlesYour qualifications:Completed university degree (diploma, master's) in physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, physical engineering, computer science or similar.Doctorate is an advantageVery good practical programming experience, preferably in Python or Matlab, for signal and image processing and data analysisExperience in working on application-oriented research projects, ideally in the field of non-destructive testing of wind turbines or fibre composite materialsKnowledge in the field of multimodal data fusion (e.g. image, 3D and thermography data) is an advantageWillingness to travel within Germany and abroadDriving licenceVery good knowledge of German (at least B1) and very good knowledge of EnglishVery good physical fitness and willingness and ability to participate in GWO training (including working at heights) and to carry out onshore and offshore field measurements on and at wind turbinesStrong team and communication skills for working in an interdisciplinary consortiumGoal-oriented and structured approach to work, initiative/commitment and ability to take action, as well as decisiveness and decision-making skillsWe offer:Work in national and international networks with universities, research institutions and industrial companiesAttractive and modern working environment with excellent infrastructure and state-of-the-art scientific equipment (laboratories, etc.)Scope for research and development for your own innovative ideasThe opportunity to actively participate in the development of quality and safety standardsGood work-life balance (possibility of mobile working [up to 60%], flexible working hours, 30 days of vacation and up to 12 days of compensatory time off per year as well as part-time options)Your application:We welcome applications via the online application form by 14.12.2025.
