Committed to making a positive impact, the organization addresses issues like child protection, climate change, and food security, supporting communities in achieving long-term growth and resilience.MOA is seeking to engage a results-oriented and self-driven Researcher to lead strategic research, evaluations, and advisory work on the recruitment and use of children by armed forces and armed groups in Africa. The Expert will provide technical leadership in legal, political, socio-economic, and child protection analysis, contributing to evidence-based programming and inclusive policy reform. This role demands rigorous analytical insight, contextual expertise, and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s rights in conflict and post-conflict settings.As our Researcher, you will:1.   Attend inception and consultative meetings to shape study direction and stakeholder alignment.2.   Conduct desk reviews of legal, policy, and institutional frameworks at national, regional, and continental levels.3.   Oversee the implementation of qualitative research, including data collection, interviews, and focus group discussions, ensuring adherence to ethical standards and safeguarding protocols.4.   Examine the nature, scale, patterns, and drivers of child recruitment in assigned regions.5.   Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of prevention, accountability, rehabilitation, and reintegration measures.6.   Translate research findings into actionable recommendations for strengthening child protection systems.7.   Compile data, prepare reports, and document study activities and outcomes for internal and external dissemination.8.   Present draft findings thethe clients & stakeholders  and at a validation workshop.9.   Collaborate with our clients including governments, civil society, and communities to ensure sustainability and scalability of recommendations.10. Keep up with emerging trends, best practices, and innovations in child protection, peacebuilding, and reintegration, integrating learning into study design and implementation.Qualifications and Skills:·   Must have a master’s degree in law, human rights, children’s rights, political science, humanitarian law, or related social sciences.·    Proven experience (5–7 years) working directly on children’s rights, preferably with African human rights mechanisms.·    Expertise in child protection, monitoring/reporting, and peace/security in African contexts.·    Strong knowledge of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child and ACERWC’s mandate.·        Exceptional report-writing, analytical, and communication skills.·        Advanced conceptual, analytical, and strategic thinking capabilities.·        Language requirements: French & English (compulsory). ·        Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams and across stakeholder groups.·        Demonstrated capacity for ethical, child-centered research and engagement.Other InformationQualified and interested candidates should send their CVs and Certificates to recruitment.moveonafrika@gmail.com by 5th March 2025 with the subject line “Researcher”.
