Retail Consultant (Based in Japan – Remote work) Gaming industryPosition Overview:Our client is seeking an experienced and passionate Retail Consultant to serve as a catalyst for growth within the network of local game stores across Japan. In this role, you will be a trusted advisor, working directly with retailers to evaluate their operations, share industry best practices, and develop strategies to enhance their commercial performance and customer engagement. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely while making a tangible impact on the heart of the gaming community.Key Responsibilities:Retailer Relationship Management & Consulting:Build and nurture strong, trusted relationships with a network of local TCG and tabletop game retailers.Conduct comprehensive in-store and virtual consultations to assess operational strengths and identify areas for improvement.Provide actionable guidance on retail excellence, including visual merchandising, customer service, event planning, and inventory management.Market Intelligence & Strategy:Maintain deep awareness of the latest trends, consumer behaviors, and competitive landscape within the Japan TCG and tabletop gaming market.Analyze retailer data and feedback to identify common challenges and emerging opportunities.Translate market insights into strategic recommendations for both retailers and our publishing/manufacturing partners.Project & Collaboration Management:Manage and execute key client projects with publishers and manufacturers, ensuring deliverables are met on time and to a high standard.Collaborate effectively with a global team, sharing insights and success stories to foster a collective knowledge base.Proactively manage your own schedule and priorities to balance multiple client engagements and internal initiatives.Required Qualifications & Experience:A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in retail operations, management, or consulting, preferably within specialty retail.Native-level fluency in Japanese and professional proficiency in spoken and written English.To comply with the specific requirements of this role and our client engagements, applicants must possess Japanese citizenship or a valid long-term working visa in Japan.Demonstrated passion for the retail sector and a genuine commitment to supporting small and local businesses.Proven ability to work autonomously, manage a complex schedule, and deliver high-quality results without direct supervision.Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and solve problems creatively.High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and CRM software such as HubSpot.Application Method:To apply for this position, please simply click on the “APPLY” button or send your full resume to (alexandra.leung@persolapac.com) word format indicating the job title portfolio.
