About The RoleThe Stockyard and TLO Specialist is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective coordination of stockyard operations and train loadout activities. This includes overseeing the movement, storage, and blending of ore, managing stockpile inventory, and ensuring that rail dispatch schedules are met without compromising safety or quality standards. Key ResponsibilitiesStockyard Operations Manage daily stockyard activities including stacking, reclaiming, blending, and dozer operations.
Coordinate with mine, plant, and logistics teams to ensure efficient material flow and minimize double handling. Monitor ore quality in stockpiles and ensure blending strategies align with customer specifications. Train Loadout (TLO) Operate and oversee the TLO facility to ensure trains are loaded safely, efficiently, and accurately to target specifications. Monitor loadout performance and address operational issues in real-time. Coordinate with rail providers and logistics teams to align train movements with loadout schedules. Safety and Compliance Ensure all stockyard and TLO activities comply with site safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
Conduct pre-start meetings, risk assessments, and audits to maintain a safe working environment. Systems and Reporting Use inventory management systems (e. g. SCADA, ROMpad, Pitram, or similar) to monitor ore movements and maintain accurate records. Report daily operational metrics, including stock levels, train loadout volumes, and equipment availability. Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintenance and Equipment Coordination Liaise with maintenance teams to schedule planned maintenance and respond to breakdowns. Ensure all equipment (stackers, reclaimers, conveyors, TLO systems) is operated and maintained according to OEM guidelines.
Qualifications And ExperienceCertificate III or IV in Surface Extraction Operations, Logistics, or equivalent. 3–5 years’ experience in mining, logistics, or port operations, with exposure to stockyard and train loadout functions. Proven ability to operate TLO systems and interface with rail logistics. Strong safety mindset and knowledge of hazard identification and risk controls. Familiarity with bulk handling systems, stockpile management software, and SAP or similar systems. Experience with blending strategies and understanding of ore grade control. Supervisory experience or leadership of small operational teams.
