Job Description
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Safety Engineer (Nebosh IGC) with a strong background in the construction of substations, overhead transmission lines (OHTL), underground cable works, and building infrastructure. The ideal candidate should be capable of enforcing standards, ensuring compliance, conducting inspections, managing documentation, and supporting continuous improvement in line with project requirements.Candidates with prior Saudi or GCC experience strongly preferred.Project Type: Electrical Substation, Overhead Transmission Lines (OHTL), and Associated Civil WorksKey ResponsibilitiesImplement all Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements in line with Company Policy, Client-approved Loss Prevention Plan (LPP), legal obligations, and contractual requirements.Provide technical guidance and leadership on all safety-related matters to engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and audits to ensure compliance with EHS Management Plans, Method Statements, and Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.Assist in the investigation of incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; identify root causes and ensure effective corrective & preventive measures.Enforce and promote a Zero Harm / Zero Incident culture across all project sites.Immediately report and escalate any serious EHS violations or high-potential hazards to the HSE Manager/Project Manager.Review, prepare, and present EHS documentation, risk assessments, and safety plans for client/consultant approval.Ensure project-specific statutory and client EHS obligations are clearly communicated and complied with by project managers, engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.Lead and coordinate EHS meetings, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns to enhance safety culture.Verify competency and certification of scaffolders, lifting supervisors, riggers, crane operators, and other high-risk trade personnel.Implement hazard identification and control measures for high-risk activities such as:Substation constructionTower erection & stringing (OHTL)Excavation & trenchingLifting operationsWorking at heightsConfined space entryElectrical isolation & energization activitiesEnsure the Emergency Response Plan is updated, tested through drills, and effective for fire, electrical incidents, working-at-height rescues, and medical emergencies.Promote behavior-based safety programs and motivate workers to maintain high EHS standards.Deliver or coordinate mandatory safety training (general and job-specific) for all staff and workforce.Set, monitor, and report EHS KPIs, objectives, and continual improvement programs.Maintain strong professional relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies on all EHS matters.Minimum QualificationsAcademic:Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil / Electrical / Mechanical / Industrial / Safety).Professional Certifications:Mandatory: NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC).Preferred:HSE Lead Auditor (ISO 45001 & ISO 14001)One-year Diploma in Occupational Health & SafetyAdvanced EHS Certifications (NEBOSH Level 6–7 Diploma, CSP, GradIOSH/CMIOSH)First Aid & Firefighting CertificationComputer literacy (MS Office, safety reporting tools).Strong communication, report writing, and presentation skills.Experience:Minimum 8+ years of HSE experience in construction, with at least 5 years in substations, OHTL, or large-scale power infrastructure projects.Prior experience with multinational contractors, large national organizations, or authority-approved projects (SEC, ARAMCO, NG, NEOM, etc.) will be a strong advantage.NOTE : This Job is based in KSA
