Job Description

Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent.Registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Malaysia (preferred or in progress).Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in a refinery, chemical plant, or similar industrial setting.Strong understanding of refinery safety practices, including handling of flammable materials, process safety, and emergency response.Familiar with DOSH regulations, Factories and Machinery Act, and Environmental Quality Act.Good communication, leadership, and report-writing skills.Able to conduct safety training and foster teamwork in maintaining a safe workplace.Physically fit and willing to work on-site, including during shifts or emergency situations.Responsibilities:Develop, implement, and enforce refinery-specific safety and health policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with OSHA, DOSH, and other statutory requirements.Conduct regular site inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments across refinery units (e.g., processing, storage, and utility areas).Ensure compliance with refinery safety standards such as confined space entry, hot work, working at height, and lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures.Monitor and control the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) among employees and contractors.Conduct safety induction, toolbox meetings, and emergency response drills (e.g., fire, chemical spill, gas leak).Investigate accidents, incidents, or near-misses, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.Maintain safety records, inspection logs, and documentation required by DOSH and internal audits.Liaise with authorities such as DOSH, DOE, and BOMBA for audits, inspections, and compliance reporting.Support plant management in promoting a strong safety culture and continuous improvement of safety performance.Participate in permit-to-work (PTW) processes and ensure safe execution of maintenance and operational activities.
