Proserpine State High School has an exciting opportunity for a full-time School Technical Officer.We are seeking an experienced, skilled, and motivated individual to manage and maintain our ICT infrastructure while providing exceptional support to staff and students.If this sounds like the role for you, apply now! About The SchoolProserpine State High School, established in 1963, serves the Whitsunday Region, providing holistic education for students from Airlie Beach, Cannonvale, the Whitsunday Islands, Proserpine, and surrounding farming and grazing areas. With a diverse cultural backdrop, the school offers a wide range of academic and vocational subjects, including 35 senior and 20 to 30 junior options, catering to varied student interests and career pathways. As the only state high school in the area, we provide multiple pathways to further education and employment, supporting students toward university, apprenticeships, and traineeships. A well-developed bus and boat network ensures students from across the region can access our school, contributing to a vibrant and inclusive learning community.About The RoleThe School Technical Officer is responsible for assisting in the management of a school's information and communication technology (ICT) network services to support and enhance student learning opportunities.Your ResponsibilitiesAs the School Technical Officer, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Server hardware and maintenance of networking equipment and peripheralsAnalysing and problem-solving technical issues and troubleshootingOversee network security, data integrity, and backup operations to ensure system reliability and protection.Management of local area networks and advice for effective useLiaising with Centre of Network staff, Regional System Technicians and school staffSupport for personal computers, desktop and portable devices where users have varying computing skill levelsCommunicating and negotiating with clients, working in a team and independently.Accurately record and maintain documentation of ICT assets, maintenance activities, and service requests. Please refer to the attached role description for the full list of responsibilities and mandatory requirements for this position.What We Are Looking ForOur next School Technical Officer will have:Technical knowledge of server hardware and configuration incl networking peripheralsHigh/good level of understanding of PC desktop, laptop, iPad and printer supportExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work as a part of a client focussed teamUnderstanding of Local and Wide Area Networks and experience with remote support toolsWorking knowledge of information security best practice.The successful applicant will be required to attain the DoE Orange Card School Administrator (OC SA) certification to access the school network, enabling the officer to perform high level support tasks including server technologies. The content of the course contains aspects of supporting the DoE Managed Operating Environment (MOE) as well as Government legislation.
