Samford State School is looking for a reliable and hands-on Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities to help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our school community set in the picturesque Samford Valley. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. This program plays an important role in daily life at the school.About The RoleResponsibilities include, but not limited to;General Operational Support: Carry out day-to-day tasks such as mail delivery, photocopying, setting up rooms for exams or events, moving furniture, stocktaking, and maintaining school equipment registers.Maintenance and Repairs: Perform or arrange repairs and maintenance of school facilities, furniture, equipment, and grounds, including pools and disability-specific equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards.Grounds and Environmental Care: Maintain school grounds, including lawn mowing, gardening, weeding, and the upkeep of sporting facilities and equipment, while following WHS guidelines.Security and Safety Responsibilities: Support school security systems, open/lock buildings, manage safe storage of chemicals and fuels, monitor and report hazards, and ensure safe work environments.Event and Resource Coordination: Assist with school events and liaise with staff, students, tradespeople, and external suppliers for maintenance, lost property, and supply ordering or collection.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.How To ApplyPlease submit a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant previous work history); andA 1-pg written statement about how your achievements and capabilities meet the requirements of the role.We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.Applications remain current for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for appointment to identical or similar vacancies within the Department.Applications from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.Occupational group Education & Training
