Welcome to PXGEOPXGEO is an innovative marine geophysical service provider combining the strengths of ocean bottom and towed streamer seismic data acquisition techniques to deliver seamless subsurface imaging for a sustainable future.What's the role? The Second Engineer is responsible for the management and operation of the assigned ship's engineering requirements according to Chief Engineers orders, the Flag State, class and international regulations and in accordance with the PXGEO EHSQ Management System. Key responsibilities include:Operating, maintaining, and repairing the main propulsion systems, all auxiliary systems, the HP air, hydraulic, sewage, and the electrical distribution systems. Assisting the Chief Engineer in establishment of a safety "culture" and taking corrective action as situations require and as directed by the Chief EngineerSupporting the "Explore Green" initiatives and ensuring the diesel engines are running at correct operational modes while establishing a goal for minimizing fuel usage and maximizing fuel efficiencyOperation of the wastewater and bilge systems to ensure all oily water separators and filters are operating at peak efficiency Ensuring that all waste generated from the engine department work practices is recorded, minimized, reduced, re-used, or recycledEnsuring all safety measures are taken during bunkering and during any transfer of oil productsEnsuring that vessel maintenance procedures are identified, prepared and implemented according to the plans as detailed by the Chief EngineerAssisting with EHS audits as mandated by PXGEO policy and as directed by the Chief EngineerMaintaining official engine room logs, oil record books, waste logs and other necessary reports and forms as directed by the Chief EngineerParticipating in drills as directed by the Chief EngineerAssisting in training of Engine Department crew membersMaintaining and updating the PMS (Planned Maintenance System) and relevant support publications and documentation as directed by the Chief EngineerStanding watch in the engine room as directed by the Chief EngineerReviewing the spare part inventories for the engine department machinery and making recommendations for changes as requiredAssisting with budget preparation for the engine department as requested by the Chief EngineerMonitoring and ensuring cost control and informing the Chief Engineer of any expected overruns if identifiedWorking in close co-operation with the Chief Engineer to plan and initiate mechanical maintenance on deck and galley components such as the FRB, Workboat, davits, winches cranes, reefers, freezers or chill boxes, ranges and ventilation fansProviding information for handover reports for the oncoming rotation as requested by the Chief EngineerFollowing the onboard chain of command structure and duties assigned under the Station BillAssisting with the Engine Department filing system in accordance with the standard set forth by the PXGEO and as requested by the Chief EngineerSupervision of personnel: Supervise the Engine Department Internal Relations: The Second Engineer will support the Chief Engineer with the daily operational requirements for the maintenance of and care of the vessel. Working together with the Engine Department to furnish timely maintenance and repair work as directedExternal Relations: As and when directly by the Chief EngineerWho are we looking for?Certificate requirement "Engine Officer Class 2" or higherExperience as Chief Engineer 3000kW or more or as a minimum Second Engineer 3000kW or moreThorough knowledge of vessel propulsion, HVAC and electrical/electronic systemWorking knowledge of ship board control systems, HP air systems, hydraulic systems and controls
