Apply today and be part of something bigger.This role is based in Amandelbult Concentrator, Thabazimbi, South AfricaJob DescriptionThe Section Engineer is a 2.13.1/2.13.3.1 or 2.14.1 and 2.13.12 appointment in terms of the MHS Act (in Mining Operations) or in terms of the OHS (in Process Operations) and is responsible to provide operational service to the Resident Engineer, with a 1- year planning horizon. The role ensures effective and safe movement of men, ore and material in the vertical/decline/horizontal shaft/haulage/plant and the associated maintenance and construction linked to the Operational Area of responsibility.Roles And Responsibilities Include The FollowingApplication of the Asset Management Framework.Application of Valterra Platinum Technical Standards and their associated Critical Controls.Develop and manage the budget for their sections with a clear view of the required maintenance within a window of 1 to 5 years, through the development of Asset Management Plans (AMP’s), also known as Life of Physical Asset Plans (LOPAP’s).Manage major shutdowns, component replacements and rebuilds.Manage projects within their appointed area of responsibility, to be completed in full, on schedule and to budget.Ensure their sections are always legally compliant.Manage critical asset performance to ensure production outcomes are met according to business expectations.Maintain infrastructure in a sustainable manner to ensure no indirect risks to production outcome.Manage effective logistics of machinery used to transport ore waste, equipment or people.Manage the construction, erection, installation, commissioning, repairs and maintenance of all equipment in area of responsibility.Manage people appointed to supervise, control and operate all equipment in area of responsibility.Compile a strategy for the section within your area of responsibility, detailing improvement opportunities to improve equipment performance, reduce the cost of maintenance and improve safety.Compile appropriate and regular reports, detailing performance against the required engineering performance metrics as well as progress against strategy.This role is Band 6/12 level reporting to the Section Engineering ManagerQualificationsEngineering related degree – BSC Engineering / DiplomaGovernment Certificate of CompetencyExperience5 years of post-engineering qualification experience, of which 3 years in an appointed position (relevant to the role) will be advantageousExperience in underground mechanized mining environment will be advantageousKnowledge And SkillsComputer literacyProficiency in EnglishValid EB/Code 08 driver’s licenseAdditional InformationWhat We OfferAt Valterra Platinum, you will join a team committed to excellence and impact.We OfferMeaningful work in a high-performance, values-led environment.Market-aligned reward and recognition.Opportunities for learning, development and progression.A culture that respects diversity and encourages innovation.A clear commitment to safe Operations.Inclusion and DiversityValterra Platinum is an equal opportunities employer.
