We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Senior Accountant who thrives on solving complex challenges. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial transactions, preparing reports, and providing insights to support strategic decision making.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAssist with the preparation of the monthly financial statements, analysis, and supplemental reporting for senior managementPrepare monthly journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations, analyze GL accountsAssist the Controller and senior management with ad hoc requests for the monitoring of the company’s financial position and progressPreparation of review and compilation working paper files, including unaudited financial statements and notesSupport internal and external audits by preparing required documentationBackup for AP and AR functions during vacation or high volume periodsAssist with the preparation of the monthly financial statements, analysis, and supplemental reporting for senior managementPrepare monthly journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations, analyze GL accountsPrepare year-end working files for income statement purposesPrepare reports and dashboards for management and department leads as requiredIdentify process improvement opportunities and support implementationEnsure the confidentiality of financial and non-financial informationPrepare monthly financial summaries and annual operating budgets for various divisionsPrepare and reconcile monthly government remittancesMaintain respectful and professional communication with fellow team members and government organizations and personnelSupport and guide junior staff on accounting tasksEnsure accuracy of all financial reporting activityPresent a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, clients/customers, visitors, and other external stakeholdersPrepare and submit annual reporting requirementsQUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree, CPA or working towards designation4 years experience in a similar position in a construction or manufacturing environment2+ years post graduate experience in public accounting with exposure to ASPE and a variety of tax applications including but not limited to HST, payroll, corporationsWorking knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax ActExperience working with accounting and tax software, excellent organizational/analytical skillsAbility to organize, interpret and explain financial information and dataProven ability to adapt to new technology, prioritize and manage conflicting demandsExcellent verbal and written communications skillsSuperior time management, planning and organizational skillsA positive and willing attitude with the ability to work individually as well as part of a teamProficient in Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel), previous use of Taxprep and CaseWare programs would be beneficialProven ability to effectively problem-solve through different situations
